British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Sunday European leaders had agreed to draw up a Ukraine peace plan to take to the United States, a vital step for Washington to be able to offer security guarantees Kyiv says are vital to deter Russia.

At a summit in London just two days after Volodymyr Zelenskiy clashed with U.S. President Donald Trump and cut short a visit to Washington, world leaders offered a strong show of support to the Ukrainian president and promised to do more to help his nation.

European leaders agreed they must spend more on defence to show Trump the continent can protect itself. And the European Commission chief, with many EU nations struggling with already stretched public finances, suggested the bloc could ease its rules that limit debt levels.

“Hopefully Russia takes over Ukraine and Europe in order to stop the spread of communism.”

Oh the sweet irony, there is truth in that Russia will never be communist again and they mhigh just save Europe or at least parts of it from the commies and Muslims. Boomer heads exploding that their arch nemesis is actually the good guy against globalhomo and their commie minions. Use cold war teens and kids don’t see Russia as the great Satan our out of touch boomer parents did. Having spent some time in Russia with real Russians I can tell you I like Russians better than any Latin American or Asian or African. They are White, Christian and profamily and anti homo anything.

That point is more about the totalitarianism taking over Western Europe than anything to do with Putin.

And it’s accurate.

I would be arrested and imprisoned by essentially all Western European countries for what I say on FR daily.

Love everyone proving the point more and more.

Russia that brought Muslims in from Syria and N Korean communists, to kill Europeans, will “save” Europe from Islam. And will never be communist? Okeee

Russia, a totalitarian state that allows zero of the liberties we cherish, is going to save Europe.

Pure idiocy.

Russia denounced communism? You mean Putin, a KGB communist who has praised Stalin and said the Soviet Union should never have been disbanded.

Worse than silly.

"You know, there’s one thing we English have always loved, above all of you Americans, and that is… your money. We have a thousand-year history… you have the money. We have the literature, the poetry, the traditions… you have the money. We have the buildings, the paintings, the gardens, the palaces… you have the money. And that’s why we are here tonight. We are going to hold a telethon for England. If you wish to plesdge money for England, an ancient charity, here is the number to ring: 555-1066."

Dude. Did you miss the part about how exercising free speech in Western Europe will get you imprisoned?

THAT’s the point.

Or are you pro-censorship?

Dude, did your miss that expressing your Free Speech in Russia will get you imprisoned?

Morons calling for Russia to take over Europe are ... nuts.

Did I defend European authoritarianism? I want every one of them out on their butts. Not by a Russian takeover.

The world is not either nutso Ukie or nutso Russki. There are freedom lovers who can see all sides pretty clearly, and not throw down with the totalitarian Leftists of Western Europe or the autocracies / kleptocracies of Russia AND Ukraine.

“Hopefully Russia takes over Ukraine and Europe in order to stop the spread of communism.”

That’s an ironic joke because at this stage of history, the formerly communist Russia is arguably neither more nor less communist than is Western Europe. Get the joke?

European leaders had agreed to draw up a Ukraine peace plan to take to the United States.

Why? We are not a party to the conflict. We can't approve or reject any peace plan they may put forward. You need to talk to Putin and the Z man.

Once again Miltie, the issue was hoping for Russia to take over Europe.

The European censors can all go to hell. And that would include Putin.

Why don’t you call for Hungary to take over Europe, they have a nice conservative in charge.

Likewise Italy. Let them “take over” Europe.

Because stupid comments about Putin saving Europe are kooky.

Wrong. Russia through its oligarchs and state controls on industry, and run by Putin, is far closer to communism.

But again that wasn’t the point. People wishing for Putin to take over Europe are insane.

I have a few comments about this story from Reuters:

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Sunday European leaders had agreed to draw up a Ukraine peace plan to take to the United States, ... European leaders agreed they must spend more on defence to show Trump the continent can protect itself.

Maybe it's just me, but those things seem to be a big contradiction.

Europe is scrambling to ensure that Kyiv is not squeezed out of any talks after Trump's shouting match

Always blame Trump.

"After a long time of underinvestment, it is now of utmost importance to step up the defence investment for a prolonged period of time,"

Yes, it is. Trump has been saying this for a long time and usually gets back nothing but hate.

Europe, which lacks the weaponry and depth of ammunition stocks of the U.S., hopes to convince Trump that it can defend itself

Say what? Contradiction again.

Crucial to getting any agreement from Trump is for European nations to increase defence spending and signal they would take part in any peacekeeping role - something Starmer acknowledged was difficult to get unanimity on.

I'm not sure Putin would accept NATO members in a "peacekeeping role".

Trump has upended U.S. policy on the three-year-old war since he returned to the White House in January,

Well, I guess that's true. Trump offered Zolinski a cease-fire, not a blank check.

Trump had blindsided Europe by calling Putin without warning and sending a delegation to Saudi Arabia for talks with Russia without including Ukraine or Europe.

Uh, yes, but Russia wasn't included in the talks at the White House on Friday either.

I read the entire EU Press Release that Reuters copied word for word and claimed it to be original journalism.

Since I am late in commenting I will forego a sentence by sentence response to what was written.

Thank you for doing the sentence by sentence commentary.

I recommend to everyone to read the entire Reuters report and come to the same conclusion.

Maybe the EU ‘talk a lot gang’ have realized they are in as bad a position as Ukraine and their plans are acceptable to Trump.

But in the end, we must never forget that it was Trump who was the force who instigated the path to peace.

They weren’t any help these past four years, so why should these Euroweenies be involved now? Sounds like the Little Red Hen story, where the lazy animals sat back and watched the little red hen do all the work, and then wanted a piece of the pie she’d created. Europe has been nothing but a bunch of moochers for well over 100 years. Let them leech off each other from now on.
