Paul McCartney’s opinion:
“We’re the people, you’re the government! You’re supposed to protect us. That’s your job,”

The government’s opinion:
“We are here to steal your money and give favorable treatment to outsiders who did not vote for us and who do not pay taxes.”

The AI visual ‘art’ I’ve seen has been very bizarre.

If it had kept these freaks from making their “art” it would have been worth it.

All the good art has already been made. Seriously, what else is there to do?

A big problem with his plan if having the government support artist is that as soon as it is passed a million grifters will immediately claim to be artists, song writers or authors and fill out the forms for their subsidies. Then after decades some president will have to bring in his quadrillionaire friend (inflation, don't you know) to cut them all off.

Whenever I hear of AI art, I think of this from 1984:

The tune had been haunting London for weeks past. It was one of countless similar songs published for the benefit of the proles by a sub-section of the Music Department. The words of these songs were composed without any human intervention whatever on an instrument known as a versificator. But the woman sang so tunefully as to turn the dreadful rubbish into an almost pleasant sound.

It's getting crazy how good this stuff is getting.

This is an entirely AI song in the tradition of early 70s Motown. Even the 70s-looking pic of the "artist" is AI.

King Willonius - Hawk Tuah (Spit On That Thang) [YouTube]

And there's a bunch of this stuff across many genres.

The streamers like Spotify and Pandora are even making their own AI-generated music (complete with ChatGPT artist biographies) and feeding it into their own radio playlists, generating revenue back to themselves.

This is why they're getting sued by the big record companies. All of this AI music was generated from previously recorded music made by actual humans. The key will be proving who was stolen from, and this will be difficult.

I am a fine art photographer. A number of art shows (not just photographs) I’ve entered in the last year have had totally created AI “photos”.

They are very eye appealing, vibrant but a little too “perfect”. They are original art, as are paintings and sculptures in the shows, but not photographs in the traditional sense.

Much like the trans (male) athletes, they need to have their own category and not be entered as a photograph.

This youtube link goes to a full Led Zeppelin II album, styled as if it was recorded in the 50s. I can’t tell if this is Ai, but it’s astoundingly good musicianship. I have listened to it multiple times.

of course it will... just look at everyone who marvels at all the fake pics posted all the time. I’ve said it 100 times there should be a law against it. Especially institutions like NASA and other institutions where people go for education and facts.

When Taylor Swift and Beyonce are considered talented then art has been destroyed.

Warning! Taylor knows how to move the mic and fling her hair around and strum her guitar without really playing it to look like she can sing.
She cannot sing. Dogs would howl upon hearing her voice.

As with much of Jimmy Page’s musical abilities, his admonition is artistic and passionate.

Of course, his detractors will always claim he appropriated material from other artists during his own career without attribution. But always keep in mind that whatever inspiration Led Zeppelin took from the historic blues greats, they always advanced the material and took it to a new and modern sonic landscape.

And as such, their contribution to the history of music is inescapably original.
