Federal employees should expect another email on Saturday requiring them to explain their recent accomplishments, a renewed attempt by President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk to demand answers from the government workforce.
The plan was disclosed by a person with knowledge of the situation who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly.
The first email, which was distributed a week ago, asked employees “what did you do last week?” and prompted them to list five tasks that they completed.
Musk, who empowered by Trump is aiming to downsize agencies and eliminate thousands of federal jobs, said anyone who didn’t respond would be fired.
Many agencies, meanwhile, told their workforces not to respond or issued conflicting guidance.
The second email will be delivered in a different way, according to the person with knowledge of the situation, potentially making it easier to discipline employees for noncompliance.
Instead of being sent by the Office of Personnel Management, which functions as a human resources agency for the federal government but doesn’t have the power to hire or fire, the email will come from individual agencies that have direct oversight of career officials.
The plan was first reported by The Washington Post.
It’s unclear how national security agencies will handle the second email.

The good, productive people in government should be able to list 5 things they did easily. The stereotypes, not so much.
Just a thought, but I worked for 45 years straight before I retired. I was never fired, laid off, demoted, or had a pay cut. I also was never too busy to do what my boss told me to do.
At several companies I worked for, EVERYONE was required to list their accomplishments weekly, forever.
Deal with it. It’s normal.
She can list 5 patients, their conditions, and her course of treatment. It might take 5 minutes. No problem.
A small price to pay to clear out the 50% increase in DEI hires of the last two years.
As I and others point out in this thread, weekly accomplishment reporting is normal in many private organizations. Everyone. Weekly. Forever.

Good thread. Proud of the folks who stood up for reporting five measley things in less than 5 minutes and being proud in their role of being part of the solution and not the problem. Anybody who couldn’t or wouldn’t was a Kamala voter. Full stop.

Taking my years as an intel analyst on active Army duty and later as an Army historian and chief of archives, I would just list what was in my weekly report to my supervisor; for example: X number of classified documents read; Y number of classified documents that I prepared written summaries and filed; number of meetings attended; hours spent debriefing intelligence assets; and list the number of “Mandatory training” classes on various topics completed; topics to include: protection of classified documents, building and personnel security, sexual orientation appreciation training, co-worker cultural assimilation and respect training, sexual harassment (prevention) training, and etcetera for the 20 to 40 hours per month of mandatory training that was required.
Huh. Women. Whattaya gonna do?
