If he was using it that way...he was still trying to threaten the United States.

My perception was similar: that Z meant the US would feel it when Russia reneges on any US-Russia agreements, like Russia did with several agreements with Ukraine.

Of course, all sides in this (the US, Russia, NATO, the EU, and Ukraine) can make a case that others reneged and acted in bad faith repeatedly. Z’s desire to relitigate every bit of it indicates that he is not ready for peace — exactly as Trump has said. It is detrimental to Europe and the entire world for Ukraine to undergo a lot more battle, death, and destruction; that does indeed risk WWIII. But Z, at least, is not willing to stop until Ukraine is utterly destroyed, defeated, raped, pillaged, and annexed by Russia. Time will tell, soon, if that is what the Ukrainian people want.
