Newsweek is not a reliable source.
The asking price on a used car doesn’t mean a whole lot.
Most Americans are OK with no deal.
As long as we shut off the spigot.
Russia get Crimea, Russia leaves all other Ukrainian territory, Ukraine agrees not to enter NATO and gives US rare earth mineral rights. US will then have to protect Ukraine to a certain extent in order to actually obtain the minerals, many of which are currently under Ukrainian land Russia is now occupying.
This is my prediction.
I’m surprised Russia has not demanded Odessa.
ISW is going to be really busy the next several weeks trying to undermine any peace deal.

A deal will get made. Nobody will like it.
If such cities were part of those that, being Russian, voted to leave the UK and join Russia — OK. otherwise, pi$$ off.
The idea seems like trolling.
In any event, no freaking way the Ukies would accept that. If it was me, better to die on my dang feet.
The Art Of The Deal, demand far more than you are willing to settle for.
Trump you bastard they read your book.
Someone should tell Isabel that the Ukrainians won't like it if the Russians have to go and TAKE those cities...
Quelle surpise. Classical Bolshevik “negotiating” from Putin’s regime. What’s mine is mine and what is yours is negotiatable.
On 27 September 2022, Russian officials of the (Russian fake) Central Election Commission in Zaporizhzhia declared the referendum passed, with 93.11% of 541,093 voters voting to join the Russian Federation. The declared turnout was 85.4%.
There were already over 700,000 people in the northern half of the oblast (over 300k of whom had fled from Russian occupied territory).
There are over 700,000 people in the oblast capitol city alone.
Basically, the number of Russkies who actually did vote for annexation - even if the numbers given were true, which they weren’t - the population of Ukrainian held Zaporizhzhia is double, perhaps even treble, that of the Russian occupied southern half.
There are videos online from the counting stations where reams of unused ballot papers were being stuck into the “da” piles.
And, there’s no doubt the Russians faked the outcome - because a Russian TV crew enthusiastically told the audience that in Zaporizhzhia oblast, 38,762 people voted for annexation. The Kremlin shat itself- that wasn’t even 5%.
