A teacher is being investigated after he was caught throwing a 13-year-old girl around a classroom 'like a rag doll' while trying to stop her using her phone during class.
Shocking video shows the altercation at Samuel P. Massie Academy in Forestville, around nine miles south-east of Washington DC on Tuesday morning.
A male educator forcefully pinned a teenager down on a desk before appearing to choke her during the violent altercation in the Maryland classroom.
The pupil, identified as Cassidy, said she had been watching a movie on her phone for 10 minutes after completing an assignment when the teacher pounced on her.
Her outraged mother, Anitra Lang, accused him of 'slamming' her daughter around 'like a rag doll'. Cassidy also described the incident in an interview.
'He grabbed me by my chest and neck and slammed me on the desk while choking me,' Cassidy told Fox News.
'I had been on my phone for the past 10 minutes before he snatched my phone up,' she added.
Footage shows the substitute teacher, who has not been named, grab the phone from Cassidy's hand before holding it away from her grasp.
'I kept reaching for my phone and he kept pulling it back,' Cassidy said. 'I was pulling on his shirt, cause why do you have my phone?'
Moments later, the teacher threw her down on the desk. 'I got up and he was grabbing on my chest and stuff and he pulled me away,' she said.
Lang said she was horrified by the footage of the teacher treating her daughter 'like a rag doll'.

Too distracting.
Uh-huh.
Why does a 13 year old have a phone and why does she have it at school
And if she defies a cop on the street, she will get much worse. Teachers are authority figures in the schools. They act in loco parentis. Before kids taking videos on their phones, no one would have cared about this.
Oh for God’s sake they blur so much out you can barely see what’s happening.
But yeah he crossed that line.
Taking her phone, I agree. Pinning her down on the desk, no.
Lots missing from the video of course. The little precious darling went ballistic and jumped on him like a rabid spider monkey when he took her electric bobble. I can only imagine the mayhem that teacher is exposed to everyday working in those “academies.”
Teacher is forced to have her in his class
I can imagine it’s very frustrating
The teacher took away a phone she was watching a movie on. She went after his and started struggling to get the phone back from him. he pushed her back and her friends jumped in also.
Do not care. She deserved a paddling from the principal.
She attacked him physically when he took the phone and wouldn’t stop.
Whatever happened to simple passing handwritten notes in class?
It’s hard to hire good substitute teachers. If I was the substitute teacher. I would have been happy she was watching a movie. I bet the girl’s mother already has an attorney. This law suit is a slam dunk with a $$$$ pay off.
I don’t mind them having cell phones. They record the stupid woke crap teachers are doing then we as parents get to see it as evidence.
In this case the child had done her classwork and was on her phone for the rest of the period.
When we were in school if we finished our classwork we were allowed to read a book, comic book ect as long as we did not talk or disturb others working. I guess kids today get on the cell phone.

Dude where you been? That ended with Text messages.

This is a situation best resolved by everyone involved walking away from it. Government school doesn’t allow that, in fact it’s the ultimate cause of the problem.
Based on how the teacher is dressed, I think they deserve each other.
No, kids should not be watching movies in class. But, teachers can’t toss the kids around either—no matter how much they might deserve it.
I am thinking we should just build a wall around these cities and let them have at each other.
I agree. They shouldn’t even be allowed in school, for years and years we survived without them.
Anitra - mother. Just guessing...
Agree totally. The phones are necessary to report on classroom concerns, and emergencies.
If a student is being intentionally disruptive, a phone isn’t the problem.
