Absolutely, because some day a kid like this is going to go off on the wrong person and he won't be just getting punched in the mouth back. He'll be going out in a body bag, not a police cruiser.

I remember high school from the early 1960s. Some students thought it was their God Given Duty in life to try to drive the teachers over the “edge.”
What provoked the kid? Looking for excuses much? If the kid wasn’t punched first, he has no right to self defense.
A message needs to be sent. You don’t touch the teachers and no violence is acceptable at school. EVER!

Back in the day we boys dared not lift a hand to a teacher. Just raising a hand during a “talking to” was enough to get drilled. I saw a sr. get decked by a little bitty bus driver. Who then threw the much bigger sr. off the bus. Literally opened the door and kicked him out. Short story. The bitter driver was a retired marine drill Sargent and the idiot sr. later joined the marines and went on to become police chief of our little burg.
But dang we lived in fear of some of those male teachers.
