The areas in Texas and New Mexico with the measles outbreak is home to many Mennonites. They do not get vaxxed.

I agree. I NEVER heard of anyone dying of these common childhood rites of passage.
And kids know these things because they are tuned in through the kid grapevine.

My older brother died of red measles when he was ten I was five and I was in the hospital for a month with pneumonia, I still show glass lung scarring from it in my 50s. We had religious exemptions from MMR vaccines.

This outbreak is spreading amongst unvaccinated Mennonites who also have religious eexemptions from MMR and a slew of.other vaccines.

As a 17yo adult free from my parents religious zealotry and via Uncle Sam was hit with 20+ shots the second I got to MCRD and was sick for weeks while enduring some of the hardest physical activity any person ever will. Vaccines have a propose and for things like polio, tetanus, smallpox and measles they eradicated stone cold killer of bugs only Fing morons would refuse life saving vaccines proven to work.

It’s only easy to claim these viruses don’t kill people if you survive them.

Click image for full size. What ever happened to one and done shots? I know we didn't get a series for everything.

I think I got DTaP, Polio and MMR. What a racket.

“The areas in Texas and New Mexico with the measles outbreak is home to many Mennonites. They do not get vaxxed.”

The areas in Texas and New Mexico with the measles outbreak is home to many unvetted disease carrying immigrants.

Are you saying the Mennonites have to alter their previously successful avoidance of vaccines in order to accommodate our border patrol’s negligence?

Or are you saying that the measles spontaneously arose in places that were inhabited by unvaxxed which also happen to be in border states

Are you saying it’s normal for the news media to ignore the proximity of these communities to unvetted immigration?

Are the Mennonites allowed to opt out of vaccines?

“ …. cases expected to rise amid a nationwide drop in vaccination rates.”

That sure is an awfully strange and imprecise way to describe “millions of unvaccinated foreign nationals”

A measles outbreak spreading in Texas and New Mexico has sickened at least 99 people, with cases expected to rise amid a nationwide drop in vaccination rates statewide increase in illegal population.

Fixed it.

I'd LOVE to see the immigration status of the sick individuals. They're blaming lack of vaccination but I have serious doubts like that.

Considering that a large percentage of those infected are Mennonites that seems reasonable.

Not necessarily because if Measles had been eradicated in the US, where did the first cases come from?

They HAD to have been brought in.

And we all know that illegal kids are not required to abide by the vaccination requirements for school attendance that American citizens are.

Measles is deadly. About 1 in 5 unvaccinated people in the US with measles will be hospitalized, and as many as 1 in 20 children with measles will get pneumonia, which is the most common cause of death from measles in young children. About 3 out of every 1,000 children who become infected with measles will die from respiratory and neurologic complications. When we were kids, I lost a step-brother to measles.

And how old are those stats?

Since measles has effectively been eliminated, they can't be current. And medical treatment with anti-biotics, anti-virals, and anti-inflammatories, along with other improved treatments can greatly change that outcome. Those things were NOT available when we were kids with the measles.

So the medical community has no virtually experience using current medical resources to give stats like that.

They looked recent. Do you think measles magically became less deadly over time?

They have NEVER been eliminated down here on the Texas border. My wife, who worked for 10 years in juvenile detention, saw many measles cases. (Along with many other so-called "effectively eliminated" diseases.)

How does that jive with measles allegedly being eradicated in the US?

The question of where the measles came from still exists.

That's just it. Measles has never been eradicated here. It has been minimized, but never eradicated. Immigrants and foreign travelers keep bringing it in.
