The American student accused of throwing her newborn baby out of a hotel window to its death in Paris was on a school trip around Europe.
The newborn baby died after the tourist hurled the infant out of a hotel window moments after giving birth, local police report.
The 18-year-old was part of ‘a group of young people travelling in Europe’, according to the French authorities.
The teenage mother allegedly threw her baby from the second floor of an Ibis Styles hotel 'with the umbilical cord', authorities said.
Investigators in Paris believe the young woman was suffering from ‘pregnancy denial’ when she gave birth ‘unexpectedly’ at the budget hotel in the French capital.
The baby has been wrapped up in a sheet when it was discovered in the street of the city’s 20th arrondissement [district], not far from the historic Place de la Nation.
The new-born was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival due to the seriousness of her injuries.
The young mother was taken to the same hospital for treatment following childbirth.
Detectives arrested her at the clinic and charged with ‘child murder’, according to French authorities.
Emergency services took the baby to the Robert Debre hospital after witnesses reported the incident at around 6am on Monday.
The street was closed for more than five hours after the incident, sources told MailOnline.
The Paris prosecutor's office told Le Parisien that the child did not survive the fall and succumbed to injuries.

If I murder someone in Oklahoma and then flee to Texas I am extradited to to Oklahoma for trial, even if they arrest me in Houston.
It’s the same thing.
She didn’t kill a baby in the US, she isn’t legally guilty of a crime here. She committed her crime in France. That is where she will stand trial.
I’m pretty much equally outraged whichever parent harms their child. No excuses.
Men are involved in a distressing amount of severe child abuse and deaths, but this tends to happen months or a couple of years later. Among the low class trash element responsible for most infant deaths, a newborn is generally in the custody of the mother and the sperm donor is likely not around. The most dangerous men for infants, toddlers and young kids are not the fathers; they are the next thug “boyfriends” that promiscuous young women shack up with. Gangbangers, druggies and alcoholic lowlifes do make make good custodians of other men’s children when the baby momma wants to go out partying or shopping (and in rare cases, to work).
Killings of newborn infants are almost always done by the mothers.
True, although I do recall a few articles on fr agout some scumbag boyfriend killing the child of a mother while he was babysitting. Probably resented having to take care of a child that wasn’t theirs.
I think you missed my point
If a he did something perfectly legal in France (age of consent 14) he could be tried and imprisoned when he got home.
He can be tried, convicted and imprisoned in the United State for violating a US law abroad, in a place where he has done nothing illegal locally in France, or say, Thailand...
6 photos and not one of the murder.
Scumbag boyfriend killing the child he is babysitting is the usual scenario. The kid keeps crying while he is watching tv or shooting up and he gets tired of it. The next questions are whether he was the father (sometimes, but usually these guys roll through pretty quickly) and how old was the child. A child who is killed immediately after delivery is almost always killed by the mother, although I imagine we can find a few exceptions here and there where a boyfriend has manned up enough to help get his baby momma through delivery.
I think it was Thomas Jefferson or Ben Franklin that said “be friendly with many, but intimate with few.” Words to live by imo.
Yeah that was pretty puke-worthy
she looks retarded. Pic on Daily Mail
