Possibly The Dumbest Example Of Waste DOGE Has Discovered (So Far)

Democrats have adopted a “If Trump is for it, we’re against it…whatever IT is” mantra, they end up looking ridiculous most of the time.

One of the dumbest and most hilarious cases of this very phenomenon was on display in a story in the Washington Post this week.

It opens with this paragraph, “At California’s Yosemite National Park, the Trump administration fired the only locksmith on staff on Friday. He was the sole employee with the keys and the institutional knowledge needed to rescue visitors from locked restrooms.”

Derek Hunter is both perceptive and an excellent writer. Democrats and their willing accomplishes in the legacy media are so stupid.

Or else, just put a keypad on the doors with codes for authorized people???

The savings and expediency of that would be astronomical compared to funding a ‘person’ to do this

Why is there a locksmith on staff, as a locksmith, when you could just contract with one when needed? How often in your life have you said, “Damnit, why isn’t there a locksmith on staff?!” At the most, I’d say one time. But the odds are heavily in favor of never.

Next, why is this guy the only person with keys? Is that the source of his job security? “Fire me and you’ll never get into any building or room again, because I will destroy every key!” Doubtful, as other locksmiths exist, not to mention the fact that changing a lock isn’t all that hard.

Since that’s unlikely, why not just make more keys – make a lot of copies so park employees are lousy with them to the point that it doesn’t matter who is working or what day it is, every door can be opened? Because government is stupid, that’s why. The bureaucracy would rather pay a salary, benefits and fund a pension for someone who likely only gets called on once or twice a year...

And because the so called 'journalists' at the Washington Post have lost their marbles - what few they had destroyed by TDS...

I’m not going to read, but I would imagine his primary job was to open the car doors of dummies who locked their keys inside…

I’m sure this is actually a full-time job at Yosemite.

I'm thinking he did unlock cars of people who locked their keys in their cars. <,p>If the job is that necessary and the guy wants to stay employed.

Just print up some business cards, give them to the park rangers,

buy a van and load it up, and open his own business. -

those key cutting machines aren't cheap but it sounds like they were paying a guy to carry around a key ring.

Here's a good one. Many in fedgov don't even reply to emails and some might not even exist.

Brings a new meaning to the term, government welfare and also reminds me of our elections.

Have used a locksmith several times but we have vacation rentals, never for my own home, but that’s why locksmiths exist. To call them when needed, having one on the payroll would be stupid. Does the article ever explain how the folks got locked INSIDE the restroom, and does every govt park and building have a paid locksmith on its payroll.

How about oil lamp lighter, telegraph operator, and buggy whip maintainer 😎

Lock smith with institutional knowledge to unlock bathrooms? Really? Makes me think of Tim Conway playing the oldest man on the Carol Burnett show.

Not enough to justify this dudes job that’s for sure....and the frequency is more than likely NEVER.

Have you ever been locked INSIDE a bathroom? I sure haven’t......because the lock is on the inside......that’s what makes this so unbelievably stupid.

Having a american working as a locksmith for the feds isn't breaking the budget. The massive spending via overseas, dod, medicare, medicaid and ssi probably runs up the score. Throw in the fema waste, grants, and other cherry picked projects around the US and world does.

Yosemite is miles and hours away from a place where a locksmith would be living.

I would think training a full time maintenance employ would be the best course.
