Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a progressive stalwart and former presidential candidate, doesn’t think it’s “good enough” for Democrats to just hammer President Trump over his sweeping policy changes or authoritarian image as they push back on the GOP leader’s second term.
“I think Democrats are trying. But what Trump has capitalized on is a simple reality that is true — and that is our system is broken,” Sanders, 83, said in a new interview with the New York Times. “There are a number of people in the House, the Senate and elsewhere who are doing a really good job. But I think the point is, it’s not good enough to attack Trump’s policies of tax breaks for the rich and cuts to Medicaid and other desperately needed programs. It’s not good enough to attack his authoritarianism.
“I certainly do not hear enough discussion on the point that the system is, in fact, broken and needs fundamental changes, not just patching it up.”
Sanders took aim at the nation’s current political climate and involvement from billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, a key Trump ally and donor whom the president has appointed to a top White House adviser role.
“Taking on people with unbelievable wealth, in a corrupt political system where people like Elon Musk and others will threaten any Republican or any Democrat who fights for working people, with massive amounts of money in a primary, is difficult,” Sanders said. “When you have a corrupt political system that allows Musk and other multibillionaires in both political parties to contribute huge amounts of money, the system is broken, period.”

What ever 3 House Bernie. The old con game no longer works.
Funny, he ain’t a dimrat he just bitches a lot.
What we do know is that when Bernie retires he will do so in comfort—ya know—like wealthy people do.
What a joke.
Nothing the Dems have done for the last 8 years has been good enough except stealing 2020 and that backfired.
The President’s policies are pro-American.
What is their strategy, say govt should spend more and taxpayers don’t deserve rebate.
Millionaire Bernie Sanders speaks.
Used to rail against “Millionaires and Billionaires” but then after he became a millionaire himself, they aren’t so bad anymore. His speeches now just say “Billionaires” as the bad guys.
Unfortunately, that number is around a half dozen.
He is already 83. I figure he will die in office, he enjoys spending other people's money too much to quit.
Satan still has plans for the free thinking(?) Independent senator.
Wait…. Bernie is helping the working class?
You need to double-down on trannies and illegal immigrants, Bernie.
Yeah. Democrats need to do more.
They need to do more “standing up”. Here’s what they are doing so far:
Standing up for illegal alien murderers.
Standing up for illegal alien child rapists.
Standing up for China controlling the Panama Canal.
Standing up for bad trade deals with Mexico.
Standing up for bad trade deals with Canada.
Standing up for caving into Columbia not taking back its citizens.
Standing up against peace in Ukraine.
Standing up against peace and prosperity in Gaza.
Standing up against Israel.
Standing up for waste, fraud, and abuse.
Standing up for dangerous DEI hires.
Standing up for a weak military.
Standing up for keeping excess government employees on the payroll.
What did I miss?
Sanders: “Democrats are trying their best.”
“But Trump has capitalized on a simple reality that is true — that our system is broken.”
The Hill, blind from birth, doesn’t notice that Bernie hasn’t invited a single alien invader to live in his million dollar lakeside mansion.
let me passphrase and condense bernie’s remarks:
“Whinge, lie, lie, lie, whinge, lie, lie, lie and lying and whinging are not good enough to git Trump and his little doggy too.”
“Root for corruption, perversion, and failure harder!”
“When you have a corrupt political system that allows Musk and other multibillionaires in both political parties to contribute huge amounts of money, the system is broken, period.”
He’s alluding to the uncomfortable truth that Democrats no longer have the unanimous backing of billionaire activists. They cannot survive without it.
Sanders is not a “progressive stalwart” - he sold out years ago and is now just another Washington grifter.
