You might have a bit of a point on the breeding/engineering that is reducing resistance to illness... that is quite plausible. But... it doesn’t answer the SUDDEN susceptibility (claimed) of US flocks.
The reality is - the US is the only nation slaughtering millions of laying hens with almost zero foundation for such action. FACT - if a single test run shows a postiive result on a farm - 100% of the birds on the farm are killed and burned. Even if the hens are stretched across multiple laying houses with lots of space between...
that is ONE SINGLE POSITIVE test. No double-testing to confirm either. Draconian to say the least.

Plenty of chicken here and recently pasture-raised eggs. Trader Joe always had them, though they sold out by noon. Now Natural Grocer has them back, 35 cents per dozen than they were before and Safeway has them too for almost $10.
I bought some at Natural Grocer yesterday, just enjoyed 2 poached eggs on avocado toast. Yum.
If you want large eggs ..get a flock of Turkeys....eggs weigh 1/4 lb.

I suspect they neither test nor cull. And now after losing some birds, their laying flocks are healthier and more resistant.

Bird flu is all over the world, and there have been waves of it for a long time. And many of the species you mention don’t live in the great, close flocks that poultry farms keep chickens in.
