They suspected a heart valve issue, but didn't have the equipment to be sure, so they sent her to Sudbury, about 80 miles away. They said she needed triple bypass surgery and referred her to a Toronto hospital about 200 miles away to start the process.

Toronto confirmed that she needed the triple bypass surgery and put her on the schedule for 17 months later. She died 4 months after the trip to Toronto.

This seems like a very real case of malpractice. I hate that she felt the need to abort her child, but the fact is she was undergoing a “legal” procedure and our repugnance of it doesn’t exonerate the doctors who allowed her to progress so such a point.
