Nearly 162K counterfeit US ‘forever’ stamps from China seized in Chicago

If real, the stamps would be worth more than $118,000.

The federal agency, which routinely inspects packages on arriving and departing international flights, said the postage was snatched after agents spotted its poor quality, low invoice value, routing and the “extraordinary” effort to conceal the lot.

With counterfeiting becoming more advanced — with most consumers unable to detect a difference — officials said there’s been an uptick in fake stamps around high volume card holidays, like Valentine’s Day.

Authentic postage stamps are produced at the US Bureau of Engraving & Printing in the US.

“poor quality, low invoice value”

Yep, they were made in China.

I guess counterfeiters have to make a buck or two also.

China sends us fake postage stamps. China sends us fentanyl. China sends us “students” whose main purpose is to steal our technology. And their crap imports are destroying our industrial base.

It’s long past time to revoke China’s “most favorite nation” status.

Postage stamps look so easy to forge...that’s why I never tried doing it.

It’s past time to 100% embargo them.

The US needs to look to It’s own needs, and those allies that want to be partners, not leeches.

Trump should add an extra 5% to tariffs on Chinese goods, just to show them that crime doesn’t pay.

> Postage stamps look so easy to forge... <

Years ago there was a true story in ‘Reader’s Digest’ about a little girl who sent her grandmother a letter once a week.

The little girl didn’t understand how postage stamps worked. So she just drew a smiley face where the stamp was supposed to be. Something like this: 🙂

The letters always went through, and were delivered.

Disclaimer: I’ve since read that US postage stamps are now coated with some sort of chemical that can be picked up by a scanner.
So no chemical = no delivery.

I’m always amazed at the talk of ‘war with China.’ There is a lot of steps we can do before ‘war’ like stop subsidies for inbound mail (epaket), revoking MFN, tariffs, etc.

For years there have been many clear as day ads on many high profile websites for discounted US postage stamps. The real USPS will not discount, so I had to assume someone high up (Brandon?) was getting kickbacks to allow this.

I once bought discounted stamps via eBay. They were mostly 1c and 2c stamps. My envelopes were colorful!

Costco sells stamps at a slight discount.

No doubt shipped by truck from NY to Philly in open gaylord boxes. The trailer dropped and no record where it went.
The word of the driver but nothing to see here though.

The P.O. depends on stamp sales in order to run. How much of counterfeit stamps contributes to the dismal finances?

Charge China by tripling the amount thru tariffs on any of their goods for this and all other crimes they commit. This is a gov’t crime as the commies do not let counterfeit anything go on without approval.
