Lets remember that the Canadians have sucked at Hockey for decades. I know, there was a time when hockey was a national sport for canucks. But they haven’t won a Stanley cup in over 30 years.

Actually I think the boys just wanted to get their teammates engaged. The tactic is used a lot during the season. It generally disappears in the Stanley cup playoffs because neither team wants to give the other team a penalty advantage. A lot of times one or the other combatants gets an instigator minor penalty along with the fighting major. Lotsa smack talk during the opening face off too.
