A guanopathic extended family member with an “ADHD” kid just threatened her husband’s entire side of the family if they don’t actively campaign against repeal of IDEA section 504, which provides accommodations to ADHD and other kids. Biden admin added gender dysphoria to the list of conditions last year. Anybody have an unbiased info source on what’s actually being proposed?
I posted the most of the article a few days ago. I have (had) a friend going bonkers over it and blaming Trump. I blocked her on FB. They have a child with spina bifida.
Sounds like Munchhausen syndrome by proxy. There’s nothing wrong with the kid. Mom’s a psycho. Get the poor kid away from mom for a few months and the ADHD behavior will likely clear up on its own.
Seriously: right now Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Alaska, Georgia, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Louisiana, South Carolina, Nebraska, Montana, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Utah have joined together to sue to get Section 504 overturned, because in 2024 it was revised to include gender dysphoria as a protected disability, and thus is being used to force states to allow or put transgender people into opposite-sex bathrooms and prisons.
The complete text of the complaint is here:

Yes. Spoiled brats.
It was a law set in motion maybe a few years, but Biden added the sexual dysphoria section in November of 2024. That section is what the 17 states are suing about.
Blaming a guy who has not been in office for a month is ignorant, regardless of how much education a person has. This is a state problem. People need to learn who to address in their own states, not knee jerk blame the current administration.

She’s lying or has been lied to. The lawsuit is to overturn the updated definition of disability done by lefty biden bureaucrats to include the gender disphoria nonsense. They are not suing to overturn the law itself. Whatever was covered before will remain covered, but the transgender accommodations have got to go. No men/boys in women’s spaces.
They were trying to sneak this one through and then lawfare into forcing it because it’s in the law.
She needs to be told to shut up and sit down.
Spoiled brats of bad parenting.
Seems to me the answer is to remember states have their own laws regarding equal access to education for disabled students.

Yes, well I think I see her problem.
It’s one of displaced responsibility.

17 States Sue To End Protections For Students With Special Needs

The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 was signed into law by President Richard Nixon in September of 1973. Section 504 of that act codified the civil rights of persons with disabilities. “No otherwise qualified individual” can be, simply because of their disability, “denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination" in any program or activity that receives federal funds.
That law has turned out to be hugely important in education, offering an even broader definition of students with special needs than the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
Now 16 states have joined Texas in a lawsuit asking the court to declare Section 504 unconstitutional.
On the surface, the lawsuit appears to be one more battle over the rights of transgender citizens. Under the Biden administration, the Section 504 definition of disability was expanded to recognize that “gender dysphoria . . . may be considered a physical or mental impairment.”
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued the Biden administration in September 2024, saying that it was “abusing executive action” to sidestep the law. The state was suing, Paxton said, "because HHS has no authority to unilaterally rewrite statutory definitions and classify 'gender dysphoria' as a disability."
The suit spends over 30 pages objecting to the addition of gender dysphoria to the Section 504 definition. It argues against the rule’s understanding of gender dysphoria. It argues against the characterization of Olmstead, a 1999 case that found persons with mental disabilities have the right to live outside of institutions.
ADHD is another made up disease they make drugs for.
The parent fills out a survey, the doctor diagnoses and prescribes a Schedule C narcotic. It’s too easy.
But Hillary said it takes a village to raise a child!

guanopathic..”
I might use this word in place of “batshit-crazy”.
Why? yours is a lot better :)
1. The Federal Govt in 2024 decided to change what the definition of disability for Education to include transexuals. The states are saying that the original act clearly states what are to be considered disability and transexuals are not in that law.
The states are then saying that a Federal agency cannot add or subtract a word in a law, so the new interpretation is invalid.
2. 504 is unconstitutional because it says to the states that you apply this new disability law to all state educational programs: etc.... or the states lose all Federal Funding, i.e. highway funds, MEDICAD, navigational aids, etc.... Constitutionally, withholding Federal Funds must be related to the action that funds were related to and section 504 applies to all funding.
For instance, section 504 says that if a state does not set up educational programs for disabled kids, then the govt would withhold funds for the highways, FEMA, etc.... Since highway funding is not related to education, section 504 is unconstitutional.
Please remember that I cherry picked what I read, because I did not want to slog through all 48 pages.
Mom gets paid monthly for having such a diagnosed kiddo.
I believe “Valpal” has the correct take in post #27 (Biden adding “gender-bending” provision to “504”), but here are a couple more info. links:
