In today’s forecast, we’re tracking a huge winter storm this weekend, followed by what could be the coldest weather in years next week! This weekend’s storm will bring heavy snow from the Central Plains to the Northeast, while the South faces a severe weather outbreak, with the risk of damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. Meanwhile, flooding rain will impact parts of the Ohio Valley and Southeast, adding to the widespread impacts. But the real shock comes next week—an Arctic blast could bring the coldest temperatures in years, plunging much of the U.S. into a deep freeze with dangerously low wind chills. A brutal stretch of winter weather is ahead—get all the latest details in today’s in-depth forecast!

Then thank God for that instead of looking down on everyone else who is dealing with much worse.

Because this isn’t just about snow and ice. It
s about a severe weather and tornado threat across a large portion of the south.

Or are you going to blow that off as *just some wind*, too.

How about if you don’t like it, stay off it?

It’s not the policy of FR to only allow pom-pom wavers onto threads.

I like the advance notice as well, and I’m sure people, especially in tornado prone areas, would rather be warned than die.

Is that the better option than warning people? Sheesh.

And for me, having grown up in NYS snow belts, snow is snow, but it still helps to know what’s coming so you can be ready for it. But ICE? That is NOT something to mess with. You can’t walk on it or drive on it. And there are too many accounts of people getting caught in winter weather they didn’t expect and dying from it.

I know.

But I avoid threads I don’t like instead of getting on them and sneering at everyone else who I disagree with as if I’m better than them.

OH! The horror! Six to nine inches of snow in February in New Hampshire. IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!

Will be clear blue skies, sunny, about 57 degrees with mild south easterly breeze today. Already saw a couple hummingbirds this morning.☺

I saw videos of that year in Buffalo. People were actually jumping out of their 2 story homes into the snow.

My kids were climbing onto the garage roof and sliding down to the ground, it was piled so deep around the garage.

Sigh.

Another person who just showed they didn’t watch the video and thinks they’re better than everyone else.

We’re looking at 8 hours of freezing rain and a high of 22, and most of the south is facing tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.

Or are you going to blow off tornadoes as *just wind*?

I’m in Durango and we got over a foot Thurs. night and a few more inches Fri. Yes, we were below normal but this snow will help.
The high country got hammered. Wolf Creek got needed feet. I’m 74 and WC has never been this dry. Yes, it’s catching up.

Your friend and others down there will just have to wait. We need all the snow we can get.

If you want the best Intermountain West snow forecasts for skiing or just an idea on the forecast, there is ‘Chris Tomer Meteorologist’ out of Denver. He’s on YouTube. He’s outstanding. You might check him out. (He’s a conservative, too).

I’m glad to see out west is getting the snow and rain they need as well. Maybe some common sense will prevail with Trump in office and the water will be managed wisely.

We need the snow here as well in the Northeast.

It’s been a very dry year and a pond nearby almost completely dried up this year. We fortunately haven’t had problems with our well. it must be good and deep, but the water table absolutely needs to be recharged.

Thanks for that link and the heads up about him. I sent it to my daughter who lives out that way.

I find that sites like this and Max, and Ryan Hall, are far better reporting than the MSM fearmongering.

They actually provide you with reliable forecasts with the constant awareness that things change and it might not be what the forecast shows. Nor to they devolve into climate change hysteria. And many do on the ground reporting during severe weather events like tornadoes, warning people who are in the path. MUCH more accurate information than the after the fact MSM reporting.

Where I grew up 20 feet of snow was common. I sure miss Tahoe but I sure don’t miss California.
