In today’s forecast, we’re tracking a huge winter storm this weekend, followed by what could be the coldest weather in years next week! This weekend’s storm will bring heavy snow from the Central Plains to the Northeast, while the South faces a severe weather outbreak, with the risk of damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. Meanwhile, flooding rain will impact parts of the Ohio Valley and Southeast, adding to the widespread impacts. But the real shock comes next week—an Arctic blast could bring the coldest temperatures in years, plunging much of the U.S. into a deep freeze with dangerously low wind chills. A brutal stretch of winter weather is ahead—get all the latest details in today’s in-depth forecast!
A 13 minute video with weather maps. Not an MSM sensationalist fear porn.
Risk of severe weather down south and the northeast is expecting snow and ice.
Our forecast for Sunday after ~ 6" of snow, is freezing rain with a high of 22F!
I can't think of any other time that I've seen forecasts for rain with a high that far below freezing.
It's not too late to prepare but I'll bet the stores are going to be mobbed today.
Northeast weather ping.
This weather reminds me of what it was like here in the 60’s/70’s. Some global warming would be nice.
However, I seem to recall that Michigan license plates used to say “WINTER WONDERLAND”
Trump’s Fault/Global Warming......I can smell it now.....
Looking forward to it. We’re leaving Sunday to drive from Baltimore to New Orleans for a trade show.
I actually enjoy adverse driving conditions.
Looks like frigid temps and snow here. Flooding today with temps in the 30’s.
Not a “huge storm” for the Northeast in February.
MAGA!
I don’t know where “here” is but good luck.
Just checked Zoom.Earth and I see nothing
SW Va. Appalachia near Princeton WV
Bump.
I guess the PNW is not affected by this. Our forecast is showing temps in the 50s a few days out!

Thanks. It always makes sense to at least get a general area.
Here in southwest Colorado we just got hammered with heavy snow.
Doesn’t this storm have a name? I don’t take weather seriously if it isn’t named. And it needs a back story worthy of a Marvel movie. Also it needs action figures, t-shirts and a music video.
NC, near Charlotte, here, so wondering if we’ll get some of that. Hubby has a bad cold and I’ve been hibernating this winter anyway, other than grocery shopping and the gym. After Helene, when our power was out for almost a full day, we got a gas fireplace and a camping stove, so with the preps, we’re ready, just in case.
Sigh. More proof of global warming. Again.
“Not an MSM sensationalist fear porn.” That’s exactly what it is. His voice is always full of doom. It’s the frickin’ weather, not a nuclear weapon.
Here we go again. Frickin’ climate change.
Southern Wisconsin here; we had a system blow through last evening dumping nearly 3” of snow in less than 2 hours. Expecting an additional 3-6” today. Next week will be brutal. Highs in single digits. Lows 🥶🥶🥶
