Count me among those who think that some of the companies announcing the end of their DIE divisions are just blowing smoke. I expect the DIE people are being re-assigned to jobs under the HR umbrella and their job descriptions altered. Those re-assigned folks will still make decisions based on their belief that race and sexual preference are far more important than competence.
It is going to take more than a press release to root out the DIE-hards. Job seekers who are well qualified for a position but have been passed over in favor of DIE-hire need to involve the law and sue ... sue ... sue. I am sure that there are lawyers that specialize in just such action. And if a plaintiff cannot afford legal action maybe there needs to be something like a ‘GoFundMe’ for that purpose.
