Staffers at the LA Times openly protested the paper's increasingly right-leaning owner on Slack after he failed to defend one of his employees in an interview.
The messages, first reported by Status, were sent hours after Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong's appeared on Dr. Drew’s YouTube show on Tuesday.
There, the pharma billionaire - who has offered repeated praise for Donald Trump - was challenged by Pinsky over his paper's coverage of him.
The piece in question, penned by reporter Jaclyn Cosgrove, was not an op-ed. However, it was titled 'Dr. Drew eyed for homeless commission, angering advocates who wonder: Is this a joke.'
Pinsky claimed Cosgrove never sought him out for comment - despite being quoted in the piece - and called Cosgrove 'disgusting'.
But rather than correct him, Soon-Shiong seemed apologetic about the editorialization.
'I think you’re right. You know, the unfairness of …and that was supposed to be a news report rather than opinion.
'And that’s what I also think is wrong about media here. You have to be fair. And that’s all you ask, right? Fair and honest. And to call you on some of these things,' he said.
It was the final straw for staffers, who took to the internal Slack channel to air their grievances.

He owns the paper. There are a lot of aspiring journalists out there who would love to have a job at a big paper.
Time to clean house.
They want to criticize the boss publicly.

The owner gets to pay if the journalists slander people.
The owner needs to fire a bunch of reporters before he does get sued.
The League of Propagandists accept no criticism from anyone. This billionaire owner of the LA Times is a chump if he continues to employ and pay such people. Clearly he is no Elon Musk.
