That surprises me. Ford should be selling twice as many F150’s than they did last year. You have to buy 2 so you can swap out keeping one in the shop at all times being recalled.

Nah, I’ll pass on Toyota.

The decisions are made in Toyoko and the profits go there as well.

I’ll stick with American cars.

Correct, because it takes in the total sales of the F150, F250, F350, FEV and the FU(Ford’s favorite when you have a problem).

The RAV4 also has four different levels from a basic 4 cylinder engine that will last forever. To the hybrid. To the Plug in Hybrid.

FYI, my wife, son both drive a Honda CRV. Which is much larger inside. The RAV4 is really tight in size. Even my petite wife thought it was too small inside.
However, I would still rather have the Toyota 4 cylinder engine than the 1.5 liter turbo that is in the CRV.

I bought a 2006 Vibe in 2009. t had 145,000 miles. I drove it another 150,000 over the next few years. Original rotors replaced at 250K. Original clutch went bad at 300K

The biggest shop repair I had was a serpentine belt.

My daughters both drove Vibe’s with similar results.

canceling the Vibe was just another stupid GM decision.

Damned if a person should have to pay for anything other than oil, tires, and gas for the first 20 years or 200K miles of a vehicle unless the designer and builders are rip-offs.

Batteries (here in Arizona), brakes, air filter.

Toyota has been doubling down on ugly the last few years, actually more like the last 10 years or so. That said, I think the RAV4 has a certain “ugly in a good way” thing going on.

The Ford F-150 pickup truck is no longer America's top selling vehicle

Exactly. Comparing oranges and apples.

Oranges and apples are both fruits. F150's and RAV4's are both vehicles.

Like I said, we are more and more service based economy. That requires fewer pick up trucks. Not difficult to understand. I bought Chevy Trax SUV instead of RAV-4 because I believe in supporting American companies over foreign companies, and it was cheaper by several thousand dollars than the Japanese design. In my 65 years of buying new cars, I never bought a car from any foreign outfit. But I don’t expect everyone to be as patriotic as America first as me.

You keep saying.... Fewer pickup trucks are required.

Who gets to decide that? A free market capitalist economy doesn’t give a damn what is required. If someone wants to buy a $90,000 F-150, great.

But a socialist society is one where requirements are determined.

You sir, are a socialist.

Did you forget to take your meds today?
Where did you see I am pushing for pickup trucks? I bought new SUV 2 years ago, not a pickup truck. And I prefer American brand over Japanese brand. Just a personal preference because I am America first. Why does not bother you? You are free to buy any brand you want.

It maybe a GM vehicle, but it has been built outside the US. The current versions are built in either S. Korea or China.

Buy Toyota stock. Then some of the profits go to you.:)

I’ll stick with American cars.

I may hold my nose around the UAW label and buy one myself next time. The more we can bring back here, the better.

I was life long GM. Bought a Toyota tundra in 2016. The tundra and dealership experience significantly better. But I need a big diesel truck and will probably get a GM. I’m visiting Bangkok now. Lots of diesel Toyota vehicles here but not at home? I’ll also get a Lexus sedan soon.

Yes. And Toyota is to blame also. A joint venture (NUMMI) worked very well to bring us the Vibe/Matrix as well as other great cars.

My cousin has owned a body shop for decades. Underneath he said Hondas are far superior to Toyotas. Based on that I own a crv.

That is true, but keep in mind the profit from selling it goes to the American company, instead of a foreign outfit. Since I made a good living in United States, my personal preference is to support American outfits. You are free to support foreign outfits.

Bobby, do you consider Buick to be an American car?

It might interest you to know that GM and China are 50/50 partners in ownership of that “American” car. And how about buying a Buick Envision? Can’t get any more “Murican that that, right?

Oh. Wait. That car currently being sold in the US is made in China and imported here.

Wanna buy a Ford? Just know that 25% of those sold in the US are built outside the US.

The point to be made is that your claiming to only only American cars is probably untrue.
