Ukraine hands over draft minerals deal to US, Kyiv says

Ukraine finished work on a draft minerals agreement and handed it back to the United States for review, two sources in the Ukrainian delegation at the Munich Security Conference told Reuters on Friday.

The sources said the U.S. side asked for until 5 p.m. (1600 GMT) to review the agreement, which is at the heart of Kyiv's push to win the backing of U.S. President Donald Trump as he strives to bring about a rapid end to the war with Russia.

"The Ukrainian side passed its vision and the U.S. side took a pause until 1700 to assess," one of the sources said.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and U.S. Vice President JD Vance had been due to meet in Munich on Friday morning, but their meeting was postponed to 5 p.m. at the request of the U.S. side, one of the sources said.

Asked if there would be a minerals deal agreed between Washington and Kyiv on Friday, Vance said in Munich: "let's see."

“Ukraine hands over draft minerals deal to US, Kyiv says”

I think Trump is as least as interested in cutting a deal with Russia regarding (what was) Ukrainian minerals...at least based on what he has said.

How much has the US already poured into Ukraine so far, and into the hands of grifting thieves here and there, without any minerals agreement as payback? A reasonable question nowadays. New sheriff in town, ya know.

“You are saying Trump is just a thief.”

No, TRUMP is saying that he wants the US to be paid back for all the money the Neocons dumped into Ukraine. It’s his words, not mine.

As Trump said, all of Ukraine may or may not become part of Russia. Their choice. They will be forced to take whatever deal Trump and Putin strike.

Ukraine is in a tough spot. They took what they thought was “free” aid under Biden but now the US wants to be paid. Zelensky is a fool, or scared for his life, because Russia and the US are raping the country and he’s made extraordinarily bad strategic decisions that have allowed it. He should of cut a deal in 2022 and none of this would be happening. I suppose that’s what he gets for listening to the Blinken and Boris.

I should have said Zelensky will have a choice between accepting a Trump/Putin deal or continue to fight. The former, most of Ukraine will stay Ukraine. The letter, Ukraine becomes whatever the Russians don’t want.

My 2 cents.

I’ll take a wait and see....The minerals are not the same ones that China has.

Ukraine becomes whatever the Russians don’t want.

Stated another way, whatever the Russians gained from boots on the ground after Ukraine failed to accept the deal within weeks after the SMO started. A deal that left the Ukie former land all in place.

Thank you, Boris, the UK, Biden, Blinken, and, of course, the homo clown Zelensky that took us for a ride -- and lost.

4 years of war in Ukraine, caused by Biden’s ineptitude, and nothing was done to bring peace. Trump is getting a precious metal deal the first month into his presidency. I believe a peace deal will be achieved next month.

100% chance the Ukies are lying about the quantity/quality of their mineral resources and whether they have control over them.

Ukraine is a fake country, and good for the US to insist on collateral security for the billions we have given this fake country full of mail order brides and nothing else.

President Trump will compare offers from Ukraine and Russia and then propose a deal that puts America First.

Most here are cheery about Ukraine getting screwed. It’s not your country. It’s not Putin’s country. Maybe you should stop running your mouths and mind your own business.

Kyiv's push to win the backing of U.S. President Donald Trump as he strives to bring about a rapid end to the war with Russia.

I'm really surprised at the truthful wording from Reuters, a departure from their (paraphrased) norm of "Let's hate Trump".

“President Trump will compare offers from Ukraine and Russia and then propose a deal that puts America First.”

...which means dumping Ukraine, which is clearly going on!

It means that the war will end and America will prosper.

Russia will formally own Crimea.

Zelensky will be wherever he put the money.

It’s disturbing. Some people seem to have just abandoned the idea of America having any ideals to stand up for, just raw, unfiltered power.

I can understand why people voted for Trump but Trump has spent too much time negotiating with new York mob bosses over real estate deals and thinks that willingness to engage in gangsterism is a sign of strength.
