Hegseth also said he is in Brussels today to "directly and unambiguously express that stark strategic realities prevent the United States from being primarily focused on the security of Europe."
"The United States faces consequential threats to our homeland. We must -- and we are -- focusing on securing our own borders," he said. "We also face a peer competitor in China with the capability and intent to threaten our homeland and core national interests in the Indo-Pacific."

Peter Hitchens smelled this rat from the beginning in his writings. Still notes the UK is a “paper tiger” as a military power as it rages against Russia.
Angela Merkel, who the US government campaigned covertly against and spied on, warned that driving Russia towards China was a bad idea.
But that is exactly what ended up happening.
So I guess we end up with UK European forces ‘containing’ Russia while the USA focuses on the “Indo-Pacific” and China.

Hegseth also told Nato’s European members that they would need to provide the lion’s share of future aid for Kyiv, warning that Washington “will no longer tolerate an imbalanced relationship” with its allies.

One wonders if a Russia friendly government were installed in Ukraine, regardless of how, if this means Europe will still send military and rebuilding aid to Ukraine.
You see, it’s not about Ukraine. It’s about maybe 10 guys running the gov’t.
