Just love how uneducated both Americans and Canadians truly are.

Here are just some historic tariffs Canada hits America with.

Milk: 270%
Cheese: 245%
Butter: 298%
Chicken: 238%
Sausages: 69.9%
Barley seed: 57.8%
Bovine/meat: 26.5%
Cars: 25%
HVAC: 45%
Vacuums: 35%
Cable boxes: 35%
TVs: 45%
Steel: 25%
Aluminum: 45%
Copper: 48%

Take a guess how much financial aide the U.S. sends Canada EVERY YEAR and how much military defense $$$$ we provide?

So far, it looks like Canada sets quotas on imports, and that level (or below) may or may not have a tariff, but then if the product is imported over that quota then the biggest tariffs kick in.

https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/dm-md/d10/d10-18-1-eng.html

It appears these quotas are set at Canada's national level and whatever nation(s) supply the quota before other nations can, would probably get no, or low tariff levels. Those offering goods after the quota has been met may get hit with prohibitive tariffs. I know there is a huge trade deficit benefiting Canada.

I live in the Soviet of Washington on the far left coast. Gas Stations at Sumas (a city on the US side of the border) have huge containers of milk, huge quantities of butter, etc. that Canadians buy before returning to Canada.

US citizens stop in both directions at the boarder duty free shop to buy alcoholic beverages and tobacco products going to and coming back from Canada.

The Canadian tariffs and agricultural subsidies are nothing new to many of us.

Also Canada has a VAT to is placed on all goods exported to the USA. Some provinces also have their own VAT (Value Added Tax). While that kind of tax may not be a tariff, it serves the same function.

The Canadians increased tariffs after Trump increased ours. Those in the Seruga post were printed in the 2025 Canadian documented I linked. After Jan 22 or so, Canadians upped key product tariffs.
