The performer who raised a dual Sudanese-Palestinian flag during Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime show says he has no regrets about the stunt, which exposed a massive security failure for a major event attended by the US president.
Zül-Qarnain Nantambu confirmed that he unfurled the banner, emblazoned with the words 'Sudan' and 'Gaza,' in New Orleans on Sunday evening as a message of solidarity to the victims of those conflicts.
Nantambu stood on a car used as a prop for Lamar's show and held up the flag, before running around the field and then being wrestled by security staff and ejected from the stadium.
He has been banned from NFL stadiums and events for life, but not yet been charged for the protest, which was seen by millions of people and underscored a huge lapse in security for event organizers.
Nantambu says he was hired as a 'participant' in the show and was part of Super Bowl preparations over the previous two weeks, raising questions over the extent of the vetting process.
He says he deliberately unfurled his flag at the same time other banners were displayed as part of Lamar's set and that the celebrated rapper knew nothing about Nantambu's plans.
That may quieten speculation on social media that Nantambu's protest was sanctioned by organizers of the half-time show, and that the protest was effectively an 'inside job.'
'It wasn't a part of [Lamar's] plan. I don't want to attribute any of that to him because he didn't know anything about that,' Nantambu told DailyMail.com.
Political protests are prohibited at NFL and other major sporting events.

Time to go back to old ways and just have High school and College bands preform in the half time at super bowl.
He isn't descended from the Mayflower Qarnain-Nantambu's, is he?
I wonder what his point was about Sudan. Whose side is he on?
I believe him.
Arrest Kendrick.
Super Bowl IV, the first in New Orleans:
Marguerite Piazza
Doc Severinsen
Lairen & Tara
Al Hirt
Lionel Hampton
Carol Channing
Southern University Marching Band
It was a disgrace. As was the entire halftime show and the super bowl commercials.
Doc Severinsen? Did he play Assembly of the Buglers?
Well, not on the passenger manifest, anyways...............
"The we hate whitey" side
I believe him too. He came out with all the other dancers. You would have think they would have noticed him before he came out and said something? Remember these dancers trained for this how many hours and for how many months? They all know each other. They didn’t say a thing before he got out there because he was with them, this was part of the act.
That's a joke, right?
Doc & Al? I’m gonna have to look this up just for that! Thanks!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
The fact that the racist jay z is in charge of choosing the acts, means he chose kenrick, so obviously, he hired the protester!
black privilege!!!!
Has he been fired out of the deportation cannon yet?
New Orleans has a fine musical heritage. Why not do a jazz rendition at half time. It would have made so much more sense.
