It seems bizarre, that the state of public education has deteriorated, since Jimmy Carter created the Department of Education.
A cabinet level federal department, was created to oversee a major area of public policy. It might be expected that such a department of government, would improve the status of the area of life which that department was set up to deal with.
Yet it appears the opposite has happened. How strange.
That was predicted, at the time, to happen.
Overwhelmed by hordes of non-English speaking children and their many special needs. Combined with the continued dissolution of the family.

Not really. The DOE was a mechanism the left could infiltrate and use to brainwash our kids in leftist policies and dumb them down at the same time.
It’s a part of big government that should not exist. The bigger the government, the more agencies = the more power the left has over us. The EPA is a prime example of the left exercising their power over the people. USAID is a prime example how the left steals our money.
Any agency that does not have a constitutional purpose needs to go. The Founding Fathers had the right idea, less government equals better government.
Oh, it did vastly improve the condition of those it was set up to deal with. The professional educational bureaucracy is much better off as is the cleptocrat class in the educational industry. Lots of union thives are far better off than they were before. Of course our students are far worse off than they were before, but the Dept of Education was never meant to help them anyway.
