Donald Trump was suing the network for $10 billion, stating that 60 Minutes edited the video to make Harris look and sound better. Upon having time to review the raw footage, Trump amended his lawsuit to $20 billion, thus doubling the original amount.

Maybe with outcome but not $$$.
Maybe they think they have ratcheted down the rhetoric by calling them rioters versus insurecctionists.
Make it 60 billion! One for each of the 60 seconds. They will be lucky if Trump settles for $500,000,000 or an even Billion. I hope some of that money goes to animal charities!
Is this a fair analogy? If someone shoots to kill you but misses it wouldn't result in a murder charge but it would result in an attempted murder charge.
Brass ones!
time to have a similar “foundation” like the clintons and of course “libraries”
“With Paramount wanting to unload CBS and needing that deal approved by the government, it’s unlikely the company will go to trial. It’s most likely they will settle the lawsuit handing Trump an easy victory and another ‘news’ pelt to go on his wall. It’ll look nice next to his ABC one.”
Trump would be happy with firing everyone working on 60 Minutes, the cancellation of the long running weekly leftist diatribe and receiving a public apology from CBS written by Leavitt and her team for CBS to read on the air. Preferably during halftime tonight.
This is a tort case, a civil case, not a criminal case. There is such a thing as the crime of attempted murder; there’s no such thing as an attempted tort, because any tort is incomplete and you can’t win on your cause of action if the conduct doesn’t result in damages. Damages are an indispensable part of any civil lawsuit
Let me guess. He’ll settle out of court for $975m less layer fees of 30% leaving him with enough with $750m to cover his NY fine should he lose.
Trump's lawyers know this.
To establish a successful libel/slander claim, a plaintiff must demonstrate:
The defendant published a false statement about the plaintiff.
The statement was damaging to the plaintiff’s reputation.
The statement caused economic loss or other damages.
To your point, proving economic damages will be a challenge for Trump's attorneys. Also, Trump being a public figure raises the bar for a libel/slander claim - another hurdle for him to overcome.
Anything can happen in a court room. We know that given the same evidence, court outcomes vary - much depending on judge, jury, attorney. It will be interesting to see where Trump's case goes.
We are seeing now why they fear and loathe him so much.
Trump’s got **** you! money, and lots of it.
He’s going to hit them where it hurts.
The settlement will be enough to fund the Presidential Library, and add his face to Mt. Rushmore.
I'll settle the lawsuit if they are willing to turn over their emails and then I can post it all over X.
IIRC-—CBS IS OWNED BY PARAMOUNT
Ok, but this isn’t a defamation case. It’s a claim that cbs interfered in the election.
There is much demolition required at CBS and Trump is just the guy to start the process.
20 billion isn’t a library; it’s a university campus. Go big or go home!
