If the people are unwilling to carry out the death penalty with time-tested, reliable methods (axe, rope, rifle) because they are too squeamish for them, then it should be abolished.

Mormonism belief that a person convicted to die should have their blood spilled, not be hanged or electrocuted. The spilling of blood somehow atones for their crime and they go to the mormon version of heaven.
