I had dinner with a bunch of friends (here in Russia) and we just talked about this very thing. They asked why America has become so soft and offended by such things, and I told them, as an Italian, I, and many others on our side of the aisle aren't the ones offended, just the snowflakes on the left. Their response about the snowflakes: "America has become so soft and it's a shame because we love America so much".

I even showed them how the dago, wop thing doesn't bother me by telling them the Dago Tire joke:

My two best friends in high school were of Italian and Polish descent. I am of Irish descend. We called each other “Wop,” “Polack,” and “Mick” all the time and out in public.

Nobody ever freaked out.
