WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Trump has announced that America will try a brand new, never-before-tried strategy of taking over a country in the Middle East.
Pundits across the political spectrum hailed the totally innovative idea, confident that the plan will work out to perfection with no issues whatsoever.
"I don't know why no one has ever thought of this before. It's so smart and so simple," explained President Trump. "Everyone will be so happy to have America in Gaza, they love us there. We will build a big, beautiful nation in no time, there will be so much democracy and freedom, no one will believe it."
The plan's utter brilliance left the crowd stunned, completely overcome with awe. "How has no one tried this before?" wondered Middle East historian Daniel Bingham. "The solution, glorious in its simplicity, has been staring us in the face this entire time. America simply takes over part of the Middle East and runs it! I cannot wait to see how beautifully this works out."
At publishing time, Trump had announced that he would appoint George W. Bush as strategic coordinator to carry out his amazing new plan.

I know this is the Bee, but I’m still not sure how the U.S. has jurisdiction to do such.
BTW, Gaza strip has been a thorn is Israel’s side for 3500 years since Israel failed to oust them when God gave Israel the former land of Canaan.
So the Bee thinks Gaza is a country just like the palis do! Lame.
Trump has properties bigger than Gaza.
No, he doesn't. And whether or not it is recognized officially as a country is irrelevant to the overall point, which is that we'd be taking over governance and responsibility for a foreign region with millions of people living in it.
Half the size of NYC and a warm water coast. A developers dream.
I’m wanting to know when the American resorts in Gaza will serve baby-back ribs so we can have the authentic experience. /sarc
When Solomon became King, the first thing he did was to marry an Egyptian princess, thus securing his southern border with Egypt.
The Pharaoh then attacked and captured Gaza, burned it to the ground and gave it to Solomon as a wedding gift.
Pharaoh didn’t want it either.............
Well, I’m waiting to see what happens. Like his tariff idea, perhaps this is part of a negotiation we can’t see yet. I really don’t understand it otherwise.
Stfu
That’s my thought. Big rhetoric to achieve some other deal we don’t yet know about.
You know you’re in trouble when you have to explain your jokes.
Usually the Bee’s subject matter is fantasy but this one is real. Whatever.
Gaza isn’t a country. And, if it is cleared out, I’m sure the Israelis will be the ones responsible for what ends up being rebuilt.
It is funny, but actually we never have tried what Trump is proposing before. He said we’d “own” it. In Iraq and Afghanistan we were trying to force democracy on the people so they could become self-governing modern democratic nations ruled by their own governments. That didn’t work. Trump is saying, you keep failing and failing and causing death and destruction, so it’s ours now like Samoa or Guam. And we’re not planning on handing things over to the Palestinians to rule so that Hamas can just take over again like the Taliban did in Afghanistan.
Maybe this will be a big failure and maybe it won’t even get off the ground, but it is much more overtly imperialistic and drastic than what we tried before, but maybe a heavy hand from an outside force is the only way to force an actual long-term peace in the region. We’ll see.
I choose not to comply with your demand.
Then GFY. Bring back the Walrus and invade Canada, Greenland, Mexico and Gaza.
If the Palestinians were smart, which they aren't, they would accept a temporary relocation offer and take advantage of the employment opportunities once the reconstruction begins.
There's no reason why that strip of the Mediterranean can't become a vacation paradise like areas of Mexico along the Gulf of America, which were built on nothing.
Based on their current living conditions in Gaza, where horse drawn carts still travel the streets, the Palestinians have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Yeah, I’m leery of trying to think any good will come of getting between nutcases in the Middle East.
I rest my case.
Name it Trumpland.
