Ukraine Criticizes U.S. Peace Proposal For Cease-Fire, Elections As 'Failed Plan'

Late on February 2, Trump said talks with Ukraine and Russia were going "pretty well."

"We have meetings and talks scheduled with various parties, including Ukraine and Russia. And I think those discussions are actually going pretty well," he added without being specific.

Hours earlier, Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, warned both sides will have to make concessions if they hope to negotiate a settlement to the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "has already indicated he will soften his position on land," Kellogg said. "And [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is going to have to soften his positions as well."

"We're going to have discussions with everybody over time, and probably in the near term," he added. "And it's good for both sides."

Kellogg told Reuters in an interview that Washington wants Ukraine to hold elections, potentially by the end of this year, especially if a truce is reached to stop the fighting.

One learns thereby that through the Biden administration, this "private" corporation was granted significant government funds -- most of its budget -- and spent lavishly on its personnel, with many more details which are not part of this comment. It "lives large."

Conversely, my grandfather always referred to himself as either Russian or Jewish, never Ukrainian.

I guess that it is pretty much an individual preference as to what you would have called yourself back in the day. But I still contend that there was never a separate and independent Ukraine in history, other than since the early 1990s (and, again, they have the right to be independent, along with the consequences of making bad foreign policy decisions).
