Late on February 2, Trump said talks with Ukraine and Russia were going "pretty well."
"We have meetings and talks scheduled with various parties, including Ukraine and Russia. And I think those discussions are actually going pretty well," he added without being specific.
Hours earlier, Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, warned both sides will have to make concessions if they hope to negotiate a settlement to the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "has already indicated he will soften his position on land," Kellogg said. "And [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is going to have to soften his positions as well."
"We're going to have discussions with everybody over time, and probably in the near term," he added. "And it's good for both sides."
Kellogg told Reuters in an interview that Washington wants Ukraine to hold elections, potentially by the end of this year, especially if a truce is reached to stop the fighting.

If Russia gets to keep any land, including Crimea, China will immediately launch on Taiwan, North Korea on South Korea, since invasion now pays, thanks to a weak 47.
Putin is reclaiming his historic borders.
The Ukraine is not a real country
You have it backwards
Ukraine has been a country for eons.
As the world bends its knee to Trump, you insist on being stuck on stupid.
How did Reuters fail to ask Gen. Kellogg to comment on Zelenski saying his country only received $75 Billion of the $175 Billion Kellogg said was given?
Where is the missing $100 Billion?
“Ukraine has been a country for eons.”

My grandfather was born in what is now called Dnipro (then Ekaterinoslav) in what is now called Ukraine at the turn of the 20th Century. At that point, nearly 125 years ago, it was called Russia. ALL of what is now called Ukraine had at that point been ruled by Russia for roughly 135 years, and many parts had been ruled by the Russians for far longer. The idea that there was a cohesive and independent Ukraine beforehand is absurd, as territory was ruled by various tribal strongmen who were pretty much always fighting each other and those nearby non-Ukrainian speakers in order to gain more territory. So your claim is wrong.
And, by the way, don’t make me out to be a Russia- or Putin-lover, as my family is Jewish and was victimized in various ways by both Russians and Ukrainians. The predecessor organization to Putin’s KGB, the NKVD, murdered my grandfather’s father in 1937, when he was 74 and suffering from cancer, so I am not exactly kindly disposed toward a man who effectively worked for the same organization and who thinks that the fall of the USSR was the greatest political tragedy of the 20th Century.
That said, in the early 1990’s, the people of what is now Ukraine decided to separate from Russia and be independent. They had that right and still do. I personal think that this war has much more to do with NATO expansion to the east (in violation of both verbal and written agreements), and the straw that broke the camel’s back was a Kamala Harris speech in November 2021 that included not so subtle references to Ukraine joining NATO. This is the fault of the U.S. and Ukrainian governments for pushing that issue - which STILL doesn’t cancel the right of Ukraine to be a separate and sovereign nation.
“Zelensky has agreed to elections as early as 90 days after martial law is ended.”
Progress, but Russia will want to see the election first, otherwise they know that Ukraine can later declare the election invalid, and thus any peace deal invalid. Also, unlike what countries in Europe may do soon, Russia will demand that all candidates that want to run be allowed to.
“President Trump’s Easter ceasefire framework includes Ukraine guarantees of elections by end of year and guarantees that all candidates will be allowed to run.”
Worth a try, but I don’t see Putin agreeing to that...too much risk that Ukraine re-arms, re-trains, and restarts the war. But no harm in trying to push it...it is progress by the West, at least.
And Trump ceasefire deal also stipulates that Russia agrees that if Zelensky wins reelection, the peace deal is a Putin-Zelensky negotiation.
“And Trump ceasefire deal also stipulates that Russia agrees that if Zelensky wins reelection, the peace deal is a Putin-Zelensky negotiation.”
That part makes sense, it’s just the timing of the election that Russia won’t take (based on what I know).
The smuf nazi knows his Laundromat is soon going to have an "Out Of Business" sign hanging on the door, thanks to Trump.
More nonsense from the Perfumed Prince of Bots.
You’ve been spewing Ukraine is Winning BS for years on this site. You are and continue to be WRONG.

‘China will immediately launch on Taiwan, North Korea on South Korea, since invasion now pays’
Thanks for your brilliant analysis, and for the good laugh.
Imagine the North Koreans’ launch on the South Koreans’ ramen noodles strategic reserve! What a nightmare.
To be fair to the smurf Z, the quotes you show is not at all incriminating for him. Z is smarter than the dems and the legacy media. He probably knew Trump would pass and was quite sneaky with his anti Trump stance.
My grandmother was a Russian born in Ukraine. She left when the Communists took over and she went to China. She hated Communists. But she always made the distinction between Russia and Ukraine. I don’t know. Two separate languages.
Yep, modern day Ukraine is a distinction all right.
Good lord, what is that?

I don’t think Zelensky openly campaigning for Harris and the democrat party in Pennsylvania was smart or sneaky on Zelensky’s part.
