Rand bats for RFK here. Good man.

Also, he responds to Bernie's familiar line: "Is healthcare a human right?"

Rand says No one has a right to someone else's service...

Leftists deliberately mix “rights” with “entitlements”.

A right is something you may do, without anyone interfering with your exercising that right. You may speak, write, worship, own arms, etc.

An entitlement is something that someone else is obligated to provide to you upon demand.

You have the right to seek health care from anyone willing to sell his services to you. You do not have the right to enslave doctors.

Paul says something like 78% of diabetes is due to being overweight. That’s an impressive percentage. I think he said “from eating too much.” That may be true.

However, I wonder about the quality of their food. I think RFK Jr. has already pressured Coke to replace high fructose corn syrup with sugar. Maybe that’s a good first step in reducing obesity. I suspect we have a long way to go.

I tend toward a more strict definition of “right,” and would substitute “privilege” in cases where a practice may be undertaken provided certain qualifications are met.

But yes, the left is utterly insane and despotic in their lack of discernment and abuse of language.

I generally like Rand Paul even if I disagree with various positions he has taken in the past, but because I do view myself as an originalist with respect to the Constitution, I could only cheer at that clear and logical answer.

Kennedy will no doubt get a chance to make that argument before all is said and done.

RFK talks about banning pharmaceutical adds on TV

Its against my free-market and libertarian notions, but given America’s obesity epidemic, and the garbage I see advertised on TV, there’s an argument to be made to ban all food advertisements as well.

Ads for pharmaceuticals are everywhere anyways. They’re in drug stores, dr offices, magazines galore.

I’d be more opposed to pharma ads being banned on TV if they weren’t buying off the MSM.

Another thing to note, though, is that after listening to some of those ads and the list of side effects they have to include, I wouldn’t want to take them.

I do not like the advertisements for drugs on TV. Their purpose is to get patients to pressure doctors to write an RX for that drug. I trust my doctor much more than Pfizer. The doctor may write for this new expensive as hell drug instead of a generic that will do the same thing.

Unfortunately I must defend the drug companies right to advertise, even though it is not for the public good.

It has been pointed out that the main purpose of the drug advertising is to control the media just like they control politicians.

A clip of the RFK Jr. hearing in the hands of a genius

We've all seen the hyperbolic "funniest thing you'll see today" clickbait stuff.

THIS is actually hilarious. :)

Seriously.

https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4294083/posts?page=29#29

RFK Jr deserves far more attention to his anti-Conservative views.

Including my own subtle prior,

https://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/4293611/posts?page=70#70

The irony is that whyden is doing our work for us.

RFK Jr talks out of both sides of his mouth on 2A. That’s all we need to know. POTUS can pick someone better.

https://x.com/DLoesch/status/1884663735169503515

If that’s not enough, he’s also anti-Conservative & pro-’climate change’

“Kennedy suggested that a state attorney general “with the will, resolve and to stand to up to the dangerous and duplicitous corporate propagandists” could not only annul the corporate charters of businesses that dispute climate change, but also nonprofit conservative groups, including the Cato Institute, The Heritage Foundation, American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and the American Enterprise Institute (AEI).”

Yeah, I like some of his positions, but those above just cancel any positives whatsoever.

Their purpose is to get patients to pressure doctors to write an RX for that drug.

After having it prescribed, people are shocked by the cost of the drug

People complain to insurers and politicians about the cost

insurers than pressure Congress to add that to Medicaid/Medicare formulary.

Big Pharma donates to Congress and Fed.gov research. The worst among representatives and Fed.gov insiders begin to demand "we protect our seniors and most vulnerable!"

Fed.gov then pays for XYZ pharmaceutical

Instant 20 guaranteed year cash-flow for the pharmaceutical producer!

No product or service that is regulated by the government should be advertised ANYWHERE.

Advertising products to consumers, and then lobbying government to compel people to buy them, is an abomination in a “free market” economy.

Seems to me most of the drugs are for simple things that can be treated with over the counter products.

We need to get people to stop buying potato chips and cookies, and snack more on cheese, veggies, and fruits.

PJDT has it covered...he already told JFKJr to stay out of oil and gas

Same with 2nd Amendment that shall not be infringed.

I don’t share your confidence that a man who has so boldly stated his convictions would set them aside for a man who conflicts so dramatically with said convictions just to do a job, even if it is head of DHHS.

But stranger things have happened.

That’s not especially relevant. They don’t run ads for you: the are pure payoffs to dictate what they media does/doesn’t cover on them.
