I almost always have strawberry 'runners' to deal with, escaping from my 4x8' raised strawberry bed. I pot them up in hanging baskets for myself and my Mom. With good fertilization, they produce well - and are also easy to get to and pick.
Plant life around here might be getting a fake Spring. We've been in the high 40s to mid 50s for almost a week, 1/2" of rain day before yesterday and 65, 70, 57, 57, 67, 51, 50 are the highs for the next several days. First week of Feb so we're sure to get more freezes. Glad I don't have fruit yet. They'd probably break dormancy.
Crazy Ozarks.
Got my neighbor's barn about cleaned up. Down to a few big items like wood stove, big deep freezer and some junk RV appliances. That and the old hay, some of which is still good and will go to the goats. The rest for tunnel mulch. Then I'm probably getting some lumber from him and can use it to frame tunnel end walls.
What a great idea for strawberries! We have them growing wild into the lawn every summer — this is a wonderful way to corral them, yet let them do their trailing thing. Could put up a gutter along the wooden fence...
