The Army announced Friday that at the request of the female pilot’s family, it is withholding the name of one of three Black Hawk helicopter crew members killed in the mid-air collision with a passenger plane over the Potomac River while the plane was on final approach Reagan National Airport near Washington, D.C., Wednesday night. The Army said the name “will not be released at this time”, leaving open the possibility of later public identification.

“That’s a good point and entirely possible. He does however have to establish credibility and that is often achieved by being forthright and being seen as in command. Unfortunately, for him this event has national ramifications so he needs to show that he can lead DoD in a way that is sensitive and responsive to the nation as a whole.”
You nailed it there. Sensitive AND responsive (or pro-active). A difficult balance to achieve, especially considering what he probably knows, that we don’t know, about what the left has done TO America and TO Americans. I’d be pretty pissed ....and showing it.
That’s why they have to get to the bottom of what happened. So if it wasn’t the pilot’s fault, it will be clear. But the longer they withhold, it will only lead to more speculation.
I would pay cash money to test that simulator out…….
RLTW
I hate to think it, but you maybe right.
My worst fear is that a tranny, knowing that he/she was going to get booted, decided on a fanatic statement, by killing 40+ innocent people.
“That’s why they have to get to the bottom of what happened. So if it wasn’t the pilot’s fault, it will be clear. But the longer they withhold, it will only lead to more speculation.”
Absolutely.
I wonder when the ‘manifesto’ will drop?
The lady gave her life while in service of her country. In the military there are pilot errors, there are friendly fire mistakes, there are all kinds of accidents.
In today’s internet excesses if fixing blame and finding scapegoats, I don’t see a problem with the military being reluctant to provide her name to the media. Describing her, giving her hours of flying experience, etc. was done and should be sufficient. I am sure that the Military will review all of her qualifications and if she had any medical or family stress problems.
“I wonder when the ‘manifesto’ will drop?”
Never? Scrubbed social media evidence, thus the 72 hour delay (takes time to clean thoroughly). Just speculation based on past events, of course.
In the world of military helicopters, 500means you are ready for your Helicopter Aircraft Commander check ride.
I hope and pray we are both wrong, but until proven otherwise...Which can be done with full, open truth from the people that already know.
You or my lying eyes? Hmm, saw the vid, flew helos, loved NVGs for the excellent vison they provide, H-60 rammed that plane, no way they couldn't see it, extra crewman didn't mean anything as they hit the Jet with the windscreen forward. Only question is why?
Okay....say that you and others are correct and the female pilot was a lezzie or a tranny....what then?
Call for immediate expulsions of all homosexuals and trannys from the military? (Actually, not a bad idea...)
Anything else?
Already done, there's the motive.
Complacency. Target-fixation, i.e., “I have the aircraft in sight” and not looking around to ensure it’s the correct aircraft. If goggles were down, that restricts vision and with all of the ground lights there, the plane could have blended in.
I’ve been involved in a few incidents where I had to clean my pants afterward. It can happen to the best of us. In my opinion, this was not deliberate. It was an unfortunate accident where everything lined up on one point and time in space.
Take what you see on the flight tracker videos. Often, you can’t see altitude separation.
If you’re ever in SE Alabama, send me a private message and I’ll get you in there for free. Or, you could buy me lunch. LOL.
Still good enough for a copilot.
She was assigned to the 12th Aviation Battalion at Ft Belvoir, Virginia, and her awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
Thanks. I appreciate your perspective, it’s such a small window in time for it to happen ...prayers to the families.
