The Army announced Friday that at the request of the female pilot’s family, it is withholding the name of one of three Black Hawk helicopter crew members killed in the mid-air collision with a passenger plane over the Potomac River while the plane was on final approach Reagan National Airport near Washington, D.C., Wednesday night. The Army said the name “will not be released at this time”, leaving open the possibility of later public identification.

I reserve judgement until more is known. Guessing at these sorts of things has embarrassed me in the past.

Much is being hid here. Transparency Mr Secretary Hegseth?
Was Newsweek watching her type? I doubt it, so I’m still waiting for confirmation that it wasn’t her.

In this day and age, most anything is possible. A-I can do things to fool the best of us but here’s where I’m at on the Ellis rumor. Bottom line: I am of the opinion she is alive and here’s why. Most importantly, there is a video of her that appears to have been posted after the crash showing her with her male sounding voice extending condolences to the crash victims. Second, the helo crew in the doomed craft apparently were all active duty aviators out of Davidson Field, Ft.
Belvoir and not National Guard rotary wing aviators, which is Ellis’ status. There are only two Guard training units in Virginia and Davidson Field is not one of them.
“Hegseth doesn’t seem to be commanding much respect at this point. He needs to step up and assert his authority and tell people to stop playing games.”
How do you know that he isn’t?
Release the name of the female pilot.
BUT,you don’t know, so quit apologizing for anyone but yourself... ymmv
“Let’s hope we’re now into an era of total transparency for a refreshing change.”

So far there hasn’t been much of a change. The JFK “release” EO actually called for a plan to release. After all these years, is a new ‘plan’ really all that necessary? The explanation for the drones was less than informative saying they were ours saying and doing some vague kind of “research”. And now this ongoing stonewalling of the name release.
Its still early in the Trump admin but so far transparency has been weak IMO.

Well, I have to agree that the drone splain was a bit dodgy, considering that it appeared to be a psyop of some kind, whether foreign or domestic-inspired. As for the JFK thing, I’ve come to accept the reality that we may never know the whole truth on that. Such is life.
And yes, it’s very early... and has only been one week. Trump has been VERY busy in clean-mode and making leftie heads explode (I’ve run out of popcorn, need to re-stock). Let’s give it some time... at least a month... maybe two months, before we jump to the “too weak to fly” conclusion. As it is, I’ve been enjoying quite a lot of “instant gratification” thus far...lol.

By the avalanche of questions, theories and speculation surround the name. Pete is Secretary of Defense, top decision maker and policy shaper of the Department. Right now it appears that the Army is calling the shots. It should be the other way around.
This mass casualty event is a national issue, not one for the Army to commandeer.
For the record, I will clarify, I think they’re setting up a narrative attempting to defend the pilot for some reason. I’m pretty confident at this point the pilot was a tranny and was probably very angry at Trump’s policies towards DEI, or a Muslim on a mission.

At this moment the astronomical DoD costs of this fiasco come into mind.

Yes, but... give the guy a chance to hang his coat and find the bathroom before bashing him for not getting enough done. It has only been a week since he was confirmed and from what I’ve seen of him on video thus far, he is going to be a very ‘hands on’ and pro-active Defense Secretary. Hegseth deferring to the Army on this one call is not indicative of how he will perform in his duty as DS. He probably just doesn’t want to come off as too aggressive and a bully, his first week in office. Just my 2cent perspective.
Not sure, but last I remember a Black FAC I RL1 Aviator requires 50 hours annually in the simulator to meet their minimums. I don’t know how many simulator hours are required as part of the Course Management Plan for the UH-60 as I’m an AH-64 guy.
That being said, if you’re implying I don’t know what I’m talking about because I now work in simulations, I am a retired 2800 hour AH-64D/E Instructor Pilot, Aviation Safety Officer, Air Mission Commander, Master Gunner, Instrument Flight Examiner, and all-around good guy.
If I misread your intent in your post (as it’s impossible to hear tone in someone’s text unless they make it obvious), my bad.

20 January 2025 but lots of opposition still exist in these
days to the Trump rule. As time moves on oposition will
be more as politics begins to look to January 20, 2029.

*Blackhawk. Not Black. Sorry. Auto correct thinks it’s smarter than I.
One may begin to wonder if any and all photos of mystery pilot, will be gone prior to name release?

That’s a good point and entirely possible. He does however have to establish credibility and that is often achieved by being forthright and being seen as in command. Unfortunately, for him this event has national ramifications so he needs to show that he can lead DoD in a way that is sensitive and responsive to the nation as a whole.
Like the start of the victim narrative.....
As crazy as it sounds...I’m guessing the person was on a medical profile for a while, and just coming off that. Mental or physical....anyone’s guess, but there’s likely a long-winded story to this.
Considering your knowledge and experience, from the radar video available, it seems that the two aircraft were flying almost directly toward each other, with the commercial aircraft making a slight left turn before impact. How could the helicopter pilot not see the airplane? I’ve heard people talk about night vision and limited peripheral vision but I have a hard time with that considering the radar and the distances involved.
Considering this, along with the fact that this was so close to an airport/runway, I have a hard time believing this was not deliberate...
