The 19th century Ingalls family is getting a 21st century TV life.
Netflix has ordered a Little House on the Prairie series, 40-plus years after a long-running adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved books aired its last episode on NBC. The new version comes from showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, The Vampire Diaries).
“Little House on the Prairie has captured the hearts and imaginations of so many fans around the world, and we’re excited to share its enduring themes of hope and optimism with a fresh take on this iconic story,” said Jinny Howe, vp drama series for Netflix. “Rebecca’s vision threads the needle with an emotional depth that will delight both new and existing fans of this beloved classic.”

Netflix will turn it into a freak-show.
A sarcastic take from Vox Day:
“Fresh take = Pa is going to be an escaped slave, Ma is going to be a strong, independent Jewish feminist, Mary will be crippled by polio because she didn’t get vaccinated, and Laura and Nellie will have an ambiguously lesbian relationship.”
“Fresh take” on the series, ie “a homosexual couple raise children that want to transition after being influenced by gay story hour at the library”
I wonder if it will include some of the darker childhood details from Laura and the family revealed later in her life. Domestic violence, alcoholism, sexual abuse, shiftlessness, atrocities from the Indian Wars on the expanding frontier, mental illness, and usury violations all were a part of the picture of that life there.
I didn’t like it the first time.................
“Reboot” = “Can’t think up anything original”.
This will be a big NOPE for me. Will never watch it. They have no chance of not destroying it.
Did you know there might have been a connection between the famous historical serial killers the “Bloody Benders” and a VERY famous series of children’s books?According to a speech given by acclaimed author Laura Ingalls Wilder at a book fair back in 1937, she claimed to have kept a story of her family’s encounter with the notorious murderers out of the Little House books because she didn’t believe it appropriate for a children’s saga. (FYI, the Bloody Benders, also known as “America’s first serial killers,” were a family that owned an inn and general store in Kansas, near where Wilder’s family lived. It’s believed that the Benders brutally killed at least 12 travelers passing through the area.)
“Put a chick in it, and make her gay.”
Or “Little Gay Bathhouse on the Prairie”.

Thanks, I had not read that. It indeed should be part of any new series reboot, complete with lurid details for historical accuracy. Kind of like watching the director’s cut of a film on DVD. I’d like it portrayed in the hard-hitting fashion that Idi Amin was in ‘Amin, the Rise and Fall’, and Jim Jones in ‘Guyana, Cult of the Damned’. Remember the joke about Jonestown? The punchline was a killer! IMHO.
I remember having a teen crush on Melissa Gilbert, before she became a democrat shrew.
With gay cowboys eating pudding.
I never liked any of the characters. They seemed too ‘nice’ to be real.
The only character I actually thought was real was the little blond spoiled mean girl!.............
That’s pudding it aptly!
How many homosexual characters will there be? I’m guessing more than zero.
Oh, goody! One more thing for the liberals to ruin.
We will all learn that Nellie is such a b__ch because people make fun of her because she is transgender.
Sounds like you may have read “Prairie Fires” — an excellent bio. My recollection of it is that Laura Ingalls Wilder had a rather ordinary life, with the usual trials and hardships of that era. It was when her daughter reached puberty that things turned . . . wilder. That daughter of hers was a real pistol.
