Golden parachutes.

They should come with a condition: when you leave you can’t get a Fed paycheck for the rest of your life.

Drain the swamp by all means available.

Absolutely correct. They are going to at their desk now, sitting around hating orange man. The saving will be sizable.

I would bet this is for people not at retirement.

How about creating a similar program for federal judges? It would be expensive but well worth it.

"Litigation risk, that’s why."

And also the risk of sabotage on the way out the door.

I dont think it applies to those who actually deliver medical services. And God knows the VA needs all the quality med people it can find.

“””My bro got his email and it looks like the choice is go back or take package open to all.”””

What you wrote implies that 2 million FED workers are working from home.

I have not seen any numbers on how many FED workers have been told to report for work at the OFFICE. Has anybody seen that number?

Lots of companies. Anyone that contracts for or sells stuff to FedGov loooves having ex-Fed employees because they know the system and can work with it much better.

Same! 30 plus years DON. I had been planning on going out next month at 62, but then we bought a retirement home outside California last month. I am still at our California home, working, and have no issues going into the office once the logistics are figured out.

I had hoped my remote agreement would tide me over til the end of the year, when I would retire, allowing me to work remotely from our new home in Arkansas starting in June after we put the CA house on the market.

When President Trump announced the return to work policy last week, I figured..well, it has been a good run (remote work), and I am eligible to retire, so I'll go out in June.

This new 'Fork in the Road" email (which I've yet to receive) actually makes it easier...it allows those who accept to continue to remote work until the resignation date of Sept 30.

I do have co-workers who were granted permission to remote work during and after COVID, and moved out of state (to Utah, Missouri, Georgia, Arizona--in all cases, they had to accept the lower salary for approval to be granted)..only one of those is eligible to retire. I expect one to be granted a medical exception.

Yes. I could turn around on 01 OCT (if my resignation is accepted) and work for the current contractor that supports my program. 100% remote, and a higher salary. If I wanted or needed to continue working....and/or if asked to do so. My dad (was a tech writer for Navy weapons systems for years) did this after he retired civil service...started working for a defense contractor.
