Looks interesting!
Clever, but far from 'near perfect'
“The U.S. Marshals knew it would take patience to track Pan, who was a brilliant MIT graduate student studying artificial intelligence.“
There was nothing, NOTHING brilliant about this moron’s murder plan.
Interesting. Good police work. Kudos.
But do we need more evidence that supposedly “very smart people” - e.g., “brilliant” - are incredibly stupid?
At least the story doesn’t terminate with pings to everytown bs anti-gun propaganda...
Ok, I have a couple of observations, one, ok, Chinese on Chinese crime got it. But I didn’t see exactly why he did it.
Are the parents who tried to help him escape US citizens? If not they should be deported.
Third, that was nice of him to come out and say he was the one they were looking for.... since they all look alike.
What a clumsy guy, no wonder he was caught so easily.
I find this story to be needlessly short. It lacks some detail and could use a few more paragraphs.
Don't never, ever try to beat the cops at their own game. The odds would be vastly against one.
Not sure why they let the parents walk. Perhaps it was a combination of wealth and connections.
It looks like it would be a fairly straightforward prosecution under Ga. Code Sec. 16-10-50, hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal.
This criminal thought b/c he was a “brilliant” MIT graduate student, he was smarter than the police - but with video, DNA and now genetic genealogy, few of them will be able to get away with their crimes.
Plus this idiot dumped evidence in the Arby’s dumpster next to where he was staying, one of the first places cops are going to look - his fingerprints were on the gun. Shows he wasn’t as smart as he thought he was.
Very sad story.
“..Sergeant Jeffrey Mills was at the end of his shift and about to head home when he heard about the call, but he decided to stop by the Arby’s anyway to investigate....”
IF Sgt. Mills had just went on home, instead of heading over to that call at Arby’s, this case might never have been solved, at least not in the way it went down.
And what of the parents I wonder?
He should have been sentenced to death. Ghrre is no help for this country.
It didn’t sound like a perfect murder plot to me.
1) too many people involved
2) Social Media connections
3) poor escape plan to Alabama and not out of the country
4) poor get away route planning that led him to get stuck on the tracks
5) disposed of the weapon and other evidence in a public restroom.
Sounds like he was a graduate of MIT: Murderous Idiot in Training
A meticulous plan you hear that Watson the game is a foot.
Pan studied artificial intelligence, but lacked simple common sense…and human decency.
It doesn’t say if Pan’s case was in a state court or a federal court. If it was a federal court, why didn’t Biden pardon him? Not offered enough money?
If that’s a “near perfect” murder planned by a “brilliant” MIT graduate then I’m Donald Trump. That plan had more holes in it than S.wiss cheese
