Anyone a digital marketer here?
1/25/2025 | Myself

Posted on 01/25/2025 4:37:10 AM PST by TermLimits4All

I have a small business in the construction field. I’d like to increase my online presence and do some digital marketing to garner more sales.

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Chit/Chat; Computers/Internet; Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: internet; marketing; vanity
What I’m looking for is a company or person that can help us. We’ve been in business for about 7 years and do have all 5 star google ratings. We are preparing to get back to our original market that we couldn’t work in for several years, long story, and want to get someone with expertise in the online marketing field to maximize our budget. Does anyone have some referrals and/or suggestions that can help us find the right outfit to try out? Thanks in advance, I’ve got a busy day today but will respond once I’m able.

Google Adwords (now called Google Ads) is the best way to attract leads. We did our own marketing and managed over $1M retail sails on a google budget of about $50/day.

Whether you hire someone or do it yourself, familiarize yourself w/ them and how the geographical boundaries and keywords work.

I may be able to help you. I ran my own agency for a few years, now I’m retired but still do some online marketing.

We’re a small business in the software field (selling systems to businesses). We have only a few employees and rely on contractors to do our work.

We use a platform called Upwork (https://www.upwork.com) to find talent quite successfully. All types of talent are available around the world for work, but you can filter your options to US-based, if that’s what you prefer. It takes a bit of work to do it successfully, but if you have the time and inclination, it is well worth it.

I’ve been in marketing for 30+ years.

Presently, I’m an asst vp marketing for a bank. I’m very frugal with our budget..

Happy to recommend an agency we work with here in NH. I used to be Google Certified but find that having limited time and budget, and the fact that it has become more complex, I trust these guys.

We work with a tight geo area and a narrow target customer and they rock it for us.

Interested in knowing what kind of business you’re running.

I had replied earlier that I’m retired but still do online marketing.

The focus of your online marketing should be lead generation with a funnel that finds prospects and turns them into leads. Fancy websites, etc. are great but if there is not a sufficient call to action that attracts potential buyers then you are wasting your marketing dollars.

I have done lead generation for many types of businesses - roofing, attorney, real estate, medical device, vitamins and supplements, bands, etc. While the topics are different for each niche the lead generation process is similar.

We own a residential and commercial painting company. We’ve previously been doing direct mail but the roi is less than a half of a percentage point. Last year I dabbled around with the marketing and got some traction as a novice. I figure I’d better focus on what I’m an expert at and leave the marketing to the professionals.

That’s what I tried last year with limited success. We did make more than what we spent on advertising but my pipeline wasn’t as filled as I wanted. I have 3 crews to keep busy, and yes they’re Americans. Sets us apart from the rest.

I had synthetic turf businesses (or worked for one). I always tried to put myself in a potential customers shoes. Hours thinking about it and trying keywords.

Also (sure you’re aware), list all the cities/towns you do work in on your website in paragraph form - Like - “We proudly serve the following communities...”

That way when someone types in say Juno Beach Synthetic Turf, I was usually getting first page. Bigger towns no, but throw exact phrases everywhere - what you think someone might search for.

Last I checked, there was no limit on # of search terms. Be as precise and as plentiful as you can w/ keywords and phrases. General terms are needed, but can cost too much money in useless followups and sales calls.

As far as geography, there were times I wanted Miami to Orlando, and at other times I only wanted Fort Lauderdale to Melbourne. We had 3 crews at our peak as well.
