BREAKING: Is ‘Republican’ Thom Tillis Trying to Tank Hegseth's Nomination?
PJ Media ^ | January 24, 2025 | Matt Margolis

Pete Hegseth’s nomination for secretary of Defense has reportedly hit a new snag.

This confirmation was always destined to face fierce resistance, with Democrats offering unrelenting opposition and the media happily running interference with their smear machine. As we previously reported, Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) have already announced their opposition to Hegseth’s confirmation, but a third Republican U.S. senator is allegedly joining them. ... Hegseth previously managed to advance from the Armed Services Committee by the narrowest margin, a 14-13 party-line vote. On the Senate floor, cloture was invoked at 51-49, barely avoiding a situation where Vice President JD Vance would’ve had to cast the deciding vote.

With 53 Republican senators in total, when it was just Murkowski and Collins voting “no,” that would bring the number to 51 votes to confirm—assuming no Democrats cross party lines and vote for Hegseth. That leaves Hegseth with room for only one more GOP defection. So, if Tillis is a “no,” then the vote would be 50-50, leaving Vice President JD Vance to cast the deciding vote.

I didn’t know anything about Hegseth before the nom.

But the harder the Cathedral comes after him, the more I’m convinced that it’s important that he be confirmed.

I dont believe he will vote NO, he said in the past that he would support Trump’s picks..we cant afford to lose 4, if we lose 4 its over, 3 is OK we have Vance, but losing 4 its game over for Hegseth..honestly what is it with the GOP, they always and I mean ALWAYS cower to the commies..what happened, did the bribe check bounce or something

Pete Hegseth must be confirmed as an issue of national security.

People who haven't served in a long time can't even begin to understand how emasculated and pussified the U.S. Military has become. Starting around 2010 or so under Obama changes happened slowly at first, and then all at once.

What used to be the bastion of mostly conservative warfighters from America's heartland is now a woke social justice experiment and jobs program that places DEI above combat readiness.

Turning this around is imperative and Hegseth promises to do so. Yet after successfully taken over the military, --as they previously did to academia and show business, the Left is not going to give up this hard-won gain without a fight.

Hegseth going down would be a catastrophe to Trump's agenda. It cannot happen.

Republicans will vote for a poor opponent knowing they’ll fail and wait for the next election cycle. Democrats will fight if it’s only politics while claiming ‘qualifications’.

If Hegseth is a no-go it will just be another election cycle to wait out. Remember Cassidy in La? Who’s gonna primary him?

WSJ says Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) is NOT a certain YES vote for Pete Hegseth.

Mitch McConnell up in the air too.

Murkowski & Collins are obvious NOs.

Hegseth can only lose 3, not 4. If he loses 3, we will need JD Vance to break the tie.

Trump can demand Mike Johnson to put the House in recess.

Fetterman didn’t even vote for cloture - he tried to block a vote from even being able to occur.

They pushed him into running for that seat big time so they probably promised to not abandon him.

Nonetheless, it was a wasted effort from the beginning, despite Hogan’s popularity, that they would elect him to a Senate seat as the stakes were different. That millions of bucks being put into the Wisconsin and Nevada Senate races may have been enough to eek out victories there.

Why would he vote to confirm when he voted to block a vote from even being able to be held?

Congressional drama as expected. Hegseth will be confirmed by Vance and the faggot ass lesbian GOP senators that voted against him will be gone in 2026.

The Marine Corps I served in ca. late 60’s-early 70’s has somewhat resisted, but it still has been infected. It’s beyond disgusting what the satanic Demoncrat party has done to both the military and the country in general. I loathe these evil people with every atom of my being, yet it seems so inadequate compared to what they deserve.

I wonder if President Trump puts a few appointments in that the Democrats will fight tooth and nail over while the others are being passed through with no fight. Just to redirect their focus.
