Pete Hegseth’s nomination for secretary of Defense has reportedly hit a new snag.
This confirmation was always destined to face fierce resistance, with Democrats offering unrelenting opposition and the media happily running interference with their smear machine. As we previously reported, Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) have already announced their opposition to Hegseth’s confirmation, but a third Republican U.S. senator is allegedly joining them. ... Hegseth previously managed to advance from the Armed Services Committee by the narrowest margin, a 14-13 party-line vote. On the Senate floor, cloture was invoked at 51-49, barely avoiding a situation where Vice President JD Vance would’ve had to cast the deciding vote.
With 53 Republican senators in total, when it was just Murkowski and Collins voting “no,” that would bring the number to 51 votes to confirm—assuming no Democrats cross party lines and vote for Hegseth. That leaves Hegseth with room for only one more GOP defection. So, if Tillis is a “no,” then the vote would be 50-50, leaving Vice President JD Vance to cast the deciding vote.

It's a bold move Cotton, let's see how it works out for him.
We already hate him here in North Carolina. If he REALLY wants to ensure he gets primaried and thrown out on his ass, stabbing us in the back yet again on any of the confirmations would do it.
Hopefully everyone is melting down his phones!
It’s RINO season
It’s votes like these that I think back to November on the close senate races we lost - Hovde, Brown, Rogers...
We would not have had to worry about Murkowski or Collins if we had won those seats.
Folks, lets take it to God and pray for favor for Pete Hegseth and that he gets confirmed
He’s a rino and Trump hater.
As much of a RINO scumbag as Mitch McConnell is, I’m pretty sure he’s going to vote to confirm, if for no other reason than as a favor to Thune. That would mean Hegseth would still pass with J.D. Vance casting the tie-breaking vote.
He votes yes or gets primaried
Any clue when the vote will be?

Same here. Those losses still stick in my craw. I’m far from convinced that they were genuine losses.
Nice shipyard you've got their. Be shame ...
It had been planned for tonight, around 9 P.M. I’m not sure if this changes things.

The late votes, fabricated for sure, and counting "mail-in" votes for two weeks or more AFTER the Eelection, resulted in those seats being lost.
Other races, controlled by Dem's SOS/AG's, further were corrupted. CA, obviously, has 100's of thousands of usable illegals, to pad voter rolls/census, and ship them to whatever close races they need, nationwide.
Supposedly 9pm eastern/6 pm pacific
Those in Bathe should help get rid her.
Thune can remove him from committees
I’m sure he knows how the hoodie senator will vote. Will it matter? Might.
McConnell poured a lot of money into Hogan’s race for the Senate in Maryland which made no sense. Pollster Rich Baris said he would lose by 10 points to a mediocre Democrat; Hogan ended up losing by 12. That money could have made the difference in these four Senate races and those withholding their votes could be told to pound salt.
You have to ask why he would pin a great big target on his back by being the one to scupper Hegseth’s nom.
Maybe he’s playing the Adam Kinzinger card and looking for a CNN talking head role (he’s not). Or maybe he wants something, which strikes me as the most likely thing. We’ll never know what he’s negotiating for but he’s probably asking for something.
Bunch of snakes at the best of time. With apologies to snakes.
Tom Tillis knows he may lose in 2026, especially if Governor Roy Cooper is running against him.
If that's the case, his vote may be for sale. So he'll get a job as a lobbyist on K Street after he leaves office in 2026.
