All these movies when introduced at golden globes. The young people around here averted their eyes. They said they were horrific movies. I know wicked is horrific

Didn’t see any of them, and don’t intend to see any of them.

Wicked is further proof that Hollywood has officially run out of ideas. They have to resort to plagiarizing dead authors of original material............

Never heard of them. Typical liberal Oscar nominations.

Hollywood has decided that the only thing left for them to do is stick a negro in their crappy remakes as the lead character.

It’s not exactly plagiarizing
It’s exploring the villain.
It will never work in the long run

Does anyone even care about these stupid awards anymore? I have no interest in watching a bunch of elitists pat each other on the back and preach to us how we should be living.

This will be the first year I haven’t seen a single one of the “Best Picture” nominees - and I have no plans to see any of them.
All appear to be uninteresting, except for “A Complete Unknown” - I’m waiting for that one to come on streaming.

Wicked is fantastic. Wife and I have seen it 8 times in various cities and large venue settings. The music is awesome, the story is clever and in the stage version the end of act one, “Defying Gravity,” should bring you to tears unless you have no heart.
The film adaptation was good, very complimentary to the stage production but the only big thing it did was add A LOT of CGI so I don’t believe it should take Best Picture. We like this far more than we like Hamilton.

Not only (I’ve heard) long and boring - it’s Part I - meaning there will be an equally long and boring Part II.
I have no interest in seeing it although I did see a Broadway production years ago when it came through town - and loved it.
Wonder why Hollywood drew it out so much and didn’t stick to the Broadway production which ran about two hours and covered the entirety of the story.

That’s just it. Everyone who is seeing the movie, already saw the play, and knows how it turns out. So what’s the point.
There’s a reason that Broadway plays adapted for movies usually don’t do well at the box office.

“Reagan” totally shut out. Of course it is.

I just read the other day that the order has come down that nominees must be trans, other aberrant types, or poc. Sorry, can’t remember where I read it.

Oscar’s first name is 2025?
