"The California we know today is really only possible because we move water around—moving water from areas of abundance to areas of need, literally causing the desert to bloom," says Geoff Vanden Heuvel, Director of Regulatory and Economic Affairs at Milk Producers Council.
Siyamak sits down with Geoff Vanden Heuvel, who will explain why this water release may have little impact on the Delta smelt and what it means for the rest of California.
"We really cannot afford to waste water in the state. We have to make sure that when we dedicate water to the environment, it does good and protects the environment. We absolutely want to do that and have an obligation to do so, but we must maximize the amount of water we store in wet years so we have it in the dry years," says Vanden Heuvel.

Palos Verdes old marinland land ?
The ocean levels are low. We need to refill the ocean.
Wait, won't that cause the sea level to rise? And inundate coastal areas where poor LGBTQ persons of color live?
The “Endangered Species Act” has become a tyrannical mechanism of illegitimate control over an individuals property. That was its original design, it was bad from the start. Find one endangered species on your land or cave and your property rights to build and sell vanish. Suddenly the new owners of your land is some obscure species that no one except biologist even know their name.
I have a sink hole on my property of a several acres. Beneath that sink hole is in all probability a cave. If one wanted to look in that sink hole and probable cave below their is a high probability one would discover an endangered species. That would immediately devalue my property greatly.
The solution to this problem is really very simple. Pour a couple hundred gallons of diesel down the hole and light a match. Since you do not know if an endangered species is down there (there probably is) you have committed no crime. It is your land. Once an endangered species is found on your land it is no longer your land.
The real hell of it is, most people are quite happy with an endangered species on their property so long as it does not cross their legal rights of use for what they own.
It all has me wanting to watch an old movie.
They are going to dump 114 BILLION gallons. “BILLION” with a “B.”
That would fill the empty reservoir 1,000 times over!!
Right you are! It means the ocean levels would probably rise by a huge amount inundating coastal areas where ... blah, blah, blah
Once an endangered species is found on your land it is no longer your land.
It need not be present on your land. I’ve got a few hollow trees that ‘might be’ used by a big eared bat (Townsend’s). Had to curtail harvest activity in that area for a while.
It’s illegal to screen them out as well.

Why the obsession with the word “literally” these days? Just like Biden.

” September 11, 2024: California is About to Dump 114 Billion Gallons of Water into the Ocean | Geoff Vanden Heuvel”
They would have been better off dumping all the state government workers, starting at the top, instead of water.
It should be pointed out that dumping the quantities of water purported in all these reports serve 2 nefarious purposes:
1. Make water more scarce (pricing & power for those with water rights),
2. Contribute directly to disasters such as recent events.
The sheer number of ‘coincidences’ defies the proclamations of suspending disbelief in favor of the religion of ‘climate change’...
This has your name all over it.
No, no, it's the rich, they've been hoggin' all the water. And all of them are Republican billionaires. And undocumented Americans [sic] aren't the reason for the massive uptick in crime. Oh, and there's no massive uptick in crime, except for white supremacist terrorism. /rimshot
THE DRY SANTA YNEZ RESERVOIR HELD 117 MILLION GALLONS. WHEN IT HAD WATER TO CAPACITY.
THIS REFERENCE=== 1000 TIMES THAT AMOUNT !!!!!!!
Dilutes the salinity of the ocean too.
When I was in college at Fresno the environazis kept finding some stupid rat on huge farm lands. Rather than paying farmers to leave their nests be to make up for lost land and protect the rats, the environazis forced the entire field to be shut down. 1000s of acres shut down. Even the farmers said they would protect their nests and till around them. Nope. Not good enough. Gotta shut the entire farm down.
After that decision no more rats were found on any farms in the Central Valley.
