Well, we can wonder about "fully adult," but it would be rather incongruous for God to take a rib out of Adam, who was able to name all the animals and whom I am quite sure were not tiny babies (all of which were rejected as mates), and present him with a women as his helpmeet/wife, and who are told to "Be fruitful, and multiply" unless they were at least mature enough to be husband and wife and to obey that injunction. I do not think that they were children. Nor that the Garden that God planted was one of tiny sprouts, but I think God could have created them as seeds and grow them into mature trees within the respective day that they were created. Likewise all else.

Dating is a major issue btwn YEC's and the old earth camp. My proffered hypothesis is that as Adam and Eve were created as fully adult, like in a second of accelerated time, so would the earth, but when Adam sinned, and death came, then he and the rest would test to be far older.
