resident Joe Biden is expected to make further use of his clemency power before leaving office next week, potentially extending pre-emptive pardons to individuals who could be targeted for retribution by President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration, according to a senior White House official and a person familiar with the discussions.
Biden has not made a final decision on any pardons for people in that group, the White House official said on Friday.
The timing for the clemency actions, should Biden decide to grant them, is likely to be during his final hours in office — on Sunday or before noon on Monday, the two sources said, though timing is subject to change.
On the campaign trail, Trump vowed to prosecute his political opponents during a second term.
NBC News previously reported that Biden was considering pre-emptive pardons for potential targets of that retribution, including Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., a manager during Trump’s first impeachment; Dr. Anthony Fauci, a former top infectious diseases expert who locked horns with Trump over his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic; and former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., who served as vice chair of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack and campaigned with Vice President Kamala Harris against Trump last year.
Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., the former chairman of the House Jan. 6 committee, said this week that he would accept a pardon, telling CBS News that if “that is something that’s offered to me, I will accept it.”

Obama is still building his civilian army of terrorists.
“Schiffty gets a pardon. What’s the crime?”
I hope you are being sarcastic?
He lied so much outside Congress that he’s in trouble if Trump went after him.
Bidenskyyyyyyyyyyy is trying to get every criminal back out on the streets before the bastard finally makes his final scorched earth exit. I hope he burns in ...
Joe,
If you go crazy on the pardons, I will too.
Don
There has to be a crime. Was Schiffty a criminal while running for a Senate seat? Those constituents may need to know what that was.
pardon /pär′dn/ transitive verb
To release (a person) from punishment or disfavor for wrongdoing or a fault: synonym: forgive.
“a convicted criminal who was pardoned by the governor.”
Similar: forgive
To allow (an offense or fault) to pass without punishment or disfavor.
Fake presidency equals fake pardons.
joe the pretender and criminal is really trying to cement his being the “Worst president Ever”.
If they were really that bad, street justice will follow them.
“Trump vowed to prosecute his political opponents during a second term.“
NBC is a joke.
And with each pardon of Fauci, Cheney, Schiff, etc. it will be demonstrably proven they committed crimes requiring a pardon. Pardoning these people will lay bare and prove the sinister corruption of the Deep State and the vile media.
Bad thought, but what if he pardoned all the illegals that have poured across the border?
Has anyone conceded that pardons for unspecified crimes are valid? I know that this isn’t the first time a pardon has been issued for a nonspecific crime, but the fact that Ford’s Justice Department quit investigating for more offenses by Nixon hardly creates a legally binding precedent. In fact, Ford’s pardon may have been completely unnecessary since
(1) it’s not clear that the missing eight minutes would’ve included anything revelatory
(2) unlike SoS Clinton’s deletions, there is no legal mechanism requiring the president to surrender the tapes
(3) the tapes would be inadmissable in any criminal proceedings against anyone
(4) Nixon had no legal obligation to provide the tapes, other than to prove he never said anything criminal
(5) That in turn means we don’t know if the erasures were friendly to Nixon or not
(6) Demanding the tapes was a fishing expedition
(7) Even if Congress had a specific crime they wanted the tapes for, the President had legal immunity from demands for information.
(8) Presidential immunity has also been found much later for all acts related to governing.
I don't think they are legal, I'm not a constitutional lawyer but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
As we were told when the press speculated that Biden might pardon Trump, legally the recipient is admitting guilt when they accept the pardon. That was only mentioned in relation to Trump, when the names of Democrats began to be thrown out there, suddenly the notion of guilt disappeared.
Our founding fathers didn’t have the mass pardoning of uncharged criminals in mind when the Costitution was adopted.
Gross distortion of the truth. Tagline is still accurate.
