'The Last Showgirl' star discussed her decision to ditch cosmetics while appearing on 'Live with Kelly and Mark'
Anderson first started going makeup-free after her long-term makeup artist died of cancer in 2019, but first made headlines for the decision about four years later, when she showed up for Paris Fashion Week in the fall of 2023 without an ounce of makeup.
While discussing her new, glam-free appearance at the time, the actress told Vogue France, "I don't know, something just kind of came over me and I was dressing in these beautiful clothes and I thought, 'I don't want to compete with the clothes.' "
Anderson has been there and "done" that, she told the hosts. “I mean, I loved it,” she said of having around-the-clock glam. “It’s fun when you’re new in the business and you get all this attention. But I feel like I’ve done that and I kind of just wanted to simplify and keep it low key.”
The actress also said that going make-up free affected her acting career in a positive way.
“I feel like I could focus better when I did the film, too,” she said of working on the Gia Coppola-directed flick. “Of course you have … there’s a whole team around you, doing that. But in my personal life, even on red carpets and a couple of magazine covers, I’ve gotten out of wearing makeup and it’s been fun.”

The vanity of one contributes to gifts for others. I met a hand surgeon who was apparently the top of his craft. Fortunately his hand-saving skills were rarely needed. He paid the bills and kept up his skills doing cosmetic surgery.
There's a continuum. Why not remove an odd birthmark or wine spot? Not everyone can wear moles as well as Lemmy from Motorhead. But going over the top to look like a distorted doll with duck lips? No thank you.
It's not all vanity. I have a friend who got implants after preemptive breast cancer surgery. She looked no different afterwards. The cost and effort would have been significantly more if there wasn't an industry in place. I know two women who had much needed breast reduction surgery. One was a 52 double D in high school. The surgery ended years of back problems.
I knew a woman who was extremely self-conscious of two different size breasts; one was an A and the other a C. She got one implant and never looked back. She felt "corrected", not "enhanced".
So help me out. Is Pamela Anderson a dog now that she doesn’t augment her face? Or is she a woman with a nice attitude?
Should she plaster herself with makeup to turn the guys on, or should she try to allure them with her own God-given beauty, in her physical self or otherwise?
“Yes”, on either/or questions is ducking.
Her pic with no makeup is much better IMHO.
Thanks for saying so. Several FReepers have already called me out for saying that Anderson has a natural beauty. I think she’s got to be a very self assured woman, to be on the screen like she is, and to not wear makeup. More power to her.
A whole lot of makeup is just that…it’s a cover. Women can be beautiful without going to extreme measures. I wish we would see more like her.
She shouldn't plaster herself with makeup to turn anyone on who she's not dating, unless she's acting a role in a movie or on television. Then she should wear whatever the role calls for.
Thank you for being more clear.
I don’t like looking at train, plane, or car crashes. So why did I watch that movie?
God made dirt. Dirt don’t hurt!
She’s cute enough without makeup.
I’d hit it.
an uncle many years ago at a family gathering was stating how sinful makeup was.
Mom responded, “Oh George, even a barn needs a new coat of paint once in a while.”
Yeah, you see what I mean. It’s hideous.
Btw, what is with women taking photos of themselves with one hand by the ear, as in the second shot? Is that supposed to make someone look better, or sexier, or something? I don’t get it, but I see lots of women do this.
Don't get me started on "smart" glasses or teeth brightening.
The teeth on some of those TV personalities are so white they would light up a dark cemetery .....
Is she gonna have her plastic boobs removed as well?
She could alwayd do as Kathy Griffith and have her make up, lip color and eyebrows tattooed on? That way you never have to worry about it.
LOL
