I’ll gladly pay you last week for a hamburger tomorrow.............
I always side with Alfred Bester’s and Roger Zelazny’s book Psychodrome theory:
The universe is big, one little grandfather paradox is small, don’t worry about it.
The biggest problem with time travel is that one cannot go to a place that doesn’t exist... like the past... or the future.
The past has passed. Or has it?
It has always been obvious to me that time travel to the past is and will always be impossible. If it were ever possible, even 10,000 years in the future, we would be flooded with tourists from the future, because there would be no way to infinitely keep such technology from being misused.
How about tomorrow?
I think it would be sad to see Schrödinger’s Cat bring his dead other self out of the box to bury it.
When does the ‘past’ start?.................
Ya don’t say.
What is, is. What was, will be. What will be, was, but will be again.
In plain language????
So if any of us actually was a time traveler, we'd never know it :)
He establishes his own parameters, presents his own question, then proceeds to solve it. Not very scientific!
But who says it hasn’t been? One of the things I enjoy in the world is “parallel thinking” when 2 people who have no contact with each other have basically the same idea at the same time. Just one silly example is that Steely Dan was negotiating their new record contract to be a band in name only (no touring, no real set membership, just the 2 head guys bringing people into the studio) in New York at almost the exact time Alan Parsons was shopping a studio only “band” around the record labels in London.
I find these parallel things interesting because there’s no good explanation. So one possible, no worse than all the others, explanation is time travel. Maybe Steely Dan didn’t do that, but Alan did, and then some time traveler knowing what happened to Steely Dan in their 2nd contract and how Alan Parsons Project worked, went back in time and met up with Donald Fagen in a bar and said “you know what would be cool...” And now we have Aja one of the greatest albums ever.
There once was a young lady named Wight,
Whose speed was much greater than light.
She went out one day,
In a relative way,
And returned on the previous night.
You can’t go back and kill Hitler as a child because you wouldn’t remember it if you did...............
Many years ago, I saw a YouTube video explaining what would have actually happened if Superman did that.
Long story short, we all die horribly.
(And the democrats would have blamed climate change and/or Trump)
In all seriousness, I've wondered if God's omnipresence is at least 4-dimensional, including time (perhaps more dimensions than that, but I'm channeling the furthest reaches of my memory from back when I read Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time LOL).
It's possible that God's ability to give prophets insight into the future is not just from being omniscient (He knows everything, enough to accurately predict what will happen in the future). It's possible that God is currently present in the future, and currently present in the past, and currently present in the present. For example, maybe God acts on our prayers before we pray them (Isaiah 65:24) because today, right now, He's hearing the prayers that we'll pray tomorrow. Right now He's seeing me being born while He's also seeing when I'll die while He's also seeing me in the here and now.
Just a thought.
