JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Tonight, Action News Jax learned about a federal indictment that claims the former leaders of the ‘Duval Teachers United’ stole more than $2.6 million from the union they spent decades leading.
DTU Former President Terrie Brady and Former Executive Vice President Ruby George each face eight counts of wire fraud and three counts of mail fraud. Brady is also facing two counts of money laundering charges.
The indictment alleges that between 2013 and 2022, Brady and George conspired to steal more than $1.2 million each from the union by selling back leave time that they did not accrue.
It details how DTU lets employees sell back leave time, at a rate equal to their pay.

I am soooo shocked..................not............
Duuuuuuvaaaaaalllll!!!
Teachers unions are a huge scam. They need to be tightly regulated, in part, because they are a government union.
Teacher’s unions, in particular, are in a win - win situation with legislators. They campaign for legislators and give money to legislators. In return the legislators reward the Teachers unions with high salaries, great benefits, and very little controls. Win - win, for everybody but the taxpayers.
They picked the wrong state.
The Florida Attorney General is a bit of a bulldog
The ages of these two women Teresa Brady, 69, and Ruby George, 81 leads me to believe they could easily be spending the remainder of their lives in prison or a very large portion of their remaining lives.
Was it worth it, is the question they will be asking themselves from now on.
I forgot to mention.....it was a “salt and pepper” team 😏
Public school teachers... enough said.
It was for the children.
and this is amusing:
The Atlantic Boulevard facade of the Duval Teachers United building at 1601 Atlantic Blvd. FBI and IRS Agents conducted a search of the Duval Teachers United building near Landon Middle School in Jacksonville on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
