“Democracy” is one of those slippery words, of which changes definition, depending upon who is using it.
The Constitution of the United States of America nowhere refers to “democracy”, though democratic means are used to select the offices of the President and Vice-President, and the House of Representatives. The Senate is a special case, in that they may be elected by democratic means, do not represent anything like a “representative republic”, but more like a parliamentary House of Lords, with two Senators from each of the individual States. The judiciary branch Court system, which is NOT elected, but appointed by the President and confirmed by a majority of the Senate, cannot be called “democratic” by any means.
